I wonder if Zebrowski has made any recent calls to Tommy Schutt about the possibilities for early playing time on the DL? My guess is there are more than a few recruits (or their parents) that may want to distance themselves from Happy Valley.

I don't know man, this whole thing is just so disgusting that it wouldn't be right to try to take advantage of the situation. It's beyond football.

I understand what you're saying but trying to lure a recruit away with what's going on just isn't right in my opinion. If that player contacts another team, then it's a different story. Maybe I'm in the minority there, I don't know.

Where we should be looking is Ole Miss. With Nutt departing we should give Ike Spearman a call and see if he is still solid there or not.

Per Peter Kings tweet:

SI_PeterKing Peter King
RT @Jeff_McLane: Asked about his son's commitment to Penn State, #Eagles OC Marty Mornhinweg wrote that Skyler "advised me not to comment."

I think it is one of those things where you wait for those players to contact you.

I would hope you're not in the minority.

I hear you and agree. I mentioned Tommy Schutt simply because we have been recruiting him all along and even though he had committed to PSU, unless he indicated he wanted no further contact, assume we have still been in contact with him before this has all hit the mainstream news media. It is 100% up to the recruits whether they want to reach out to another school.

Let the kids de-commit before contacting them or let them contact you.

I doubt there will be sanctions against Penn State, so my guess is most kids will want to see who the new coach is before making a decision.

You are absolutely right, which guarantees there are scumbag coaches out there right now calling Penn St commits. So the question with our staff would be what is mroe important, morally right or keep our jobs?

Not so sure on no sanctions...this falls under institutional control issues...it may not be on the field or academic related but it is within the football program. Not so sure that the NCAA wont take advantage of a situation like this.

This issue doesn't fall under the NCAA jurisdiction. This is a legal issue.

You may be right. If the latest allegations of Sandusky pimping for boosters/contributors turns out to be true, sanctions are far more likely.

As someone else wrote, you can bet there are other coaches already contacting PSU recruits. SCum, tOSU, & PSU are often fighting for the same recruits as PSU. I agree with you that it's wrong to coldcall everyone on PSU's commit list, if it is a kid that we were actively recruiting (with it being a 2-way conversation, and not us just spamming him), then we'd be foolish to not re-open communication. But I agree that this shouldn't happen in the next 24 hours. Give it a little time

BTW, if I was PSU's next coach, I'd make it a condition of my hiring that PSU knock down that locker room and shower. No way could I bring a recruit in there

I believe that, for top recruits, it's customary to keep an open line of communications, just in case they change their minds. I don't think it goes much beyond, "we're still interested", and at this point that's where I would leave it. Some of the other schools, just might take themselves out of competition, by being too opportunistic.

I don't think there's anything wrong with contacting any of PSU's recruits immediately. Why wait? Most of them will be going somewhere other than PSU and may want to stay in the Big Ten. I say call them now and recruit them as if they haven't even verbaled to Penn State. There would be nothing wrong with that imo.

I think the general public would view it differently and call our program "dirty" or something along those lines. I would stay away for now and focus their attention on the bigger issues at PSU than their recruits.

That's why we need to jump on them now. There's no point in waiting for them to call us, that's not going to happen anyway.

I imagine it will be tough to have any association with Penn St for a few years. It's like that whole town looked the other way while this was happening. Victim #1's school was letting Sandusky take him out of class whenever he liked despite knowing about the allegations and actually catching him laying on top of the kid in their weight room. Unbelievable! SMH.
