per PennLive:
But here's what you need to now about the 3-0 Gophers ...
1. Minnesota has feasted on a comfortable early schedule. The Gophers emerged from September unbeaten, having scored a combined 119 points in home triumphs over Oregon State (30-23), Indiana State (58-28) and Colorado State (31-24).
2. Penn State's defense will have to prepare to stop three running backs. It won't be easy. The Lions have surrendered 300-plus rushing yards to Pitt and Michigan and Minnesota features three backs who can do damage — Shannon Brooks, Rodney Smith and Kobe McCrary. Brooks returns from a foot injury to run for 85 yards and a touchdown in the Gophers' win over Colorado State on Saturday.
3. Gophers QB Mitch Leidner can hurt the PSU defense with his legs. Leidner, who is built more like a tight end (6-4, 230), has run for 135 yards and three touchdowns in three games. He's averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
4. The Lions' red zone defense will be tested again. PSU allowed 12 touchdowns on 12 red zone possessions against Pitt and Michigan. Minnesota has scored 13 touchdowns on 14 red zone possession
5. Minnesota does not enjoy road trips to State College. The Gophers last played at Beaver Stadium in 2009, losing 20-0, and they are 2-4 all-time there. PSU's last home loss to Minnesota? The Gophers won 20-14 in 2003, the year the Lions finished 3-9.
