According to this report, James Franklin, Mike Munchak & Greg Schiano have put feelers out to Penn State to show preliminary interest in case O'Brien bolts for the NFL. Per the article:

Though I’m told Penn State is not actively lining up any candidates as a contingency in case O’Brien leaves for one of several NFL jobs for which he’s a primary target, possible candidates are discreetly having their people contact Penn State to assess the landscape.

Knowledgeable PSU sources have told me at least three other head coaches have had their intermediaries inquire about the Penn State job, curious about the chances it might come open: James Franklin, Mike Munchak & Greg Schiano

NFL.com: Bill O'Brien, Houston Texans agree to interview

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network's "Around the League Live" that O'Brien is one of the Houston Texans' top candidates to fill their coaching job, according to sources familiar with the team's process. O'Brien and the Texans agreed to have an interview after Christmas, which means it's already happened or it will happen in the near future.

Go Gophers!!

O'Brien is a hot commodity. He's done a very good job at Penn State under some pretty difficult circumstances. I know he was linked to the Vikings a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious to see what is done with Frazier, but if the Vikings are moving on without him, they probably should have fired him at mid-season.

Munchak would obviously be a natural at Penn State, but I wonder if the fact he played for Paterno would actually work against him.

Probably not a good idea to put feelers and Penn State in the same sentence.
