Katz makes a good point. If St. Mary's gets to the WCC final and loses to Gonzaga, the selection committee will have one of its most difficult decisions to make. With a healthy Mills, St. Mary's definitely passes the eye test and looks the part of a NCAA-caliber squad, but the truth is the Gaels didn't play that difficult of a schedule. They have neutral-court wins over fellow bubble teams Providence & San Diego State (with Mills), as well as a win over WAC regular-season champion Utah State (without Mills), but that's about it. My hunch is if they lose to the Zags in the WCC final they'll get in, but they can't slip up before the final.

This was talked about before, but that guy Mills is one heckuva player. Love to have him on the Gopher squad.

There was a Sports Illustrated article a year back about the influx of Aussie players in the U.S. They spent some ink talking about the path that Mills has taken to get where he is. At the age of 13 or 14 his family sent him off to an Olympic Development center in Australia to play basketball 365 days a year. Talk about a gym rat.

I think the Gaels need to win the WCC Tournament, otherwise they are a solid NIT pick.
