Can't really support the facts of the schedule so far. Played one quality game and got destroyed. We will head into conference play with no idea of how competitive we will be for the season. We have 7 more ranked teams coming in Conference play. 17 Games to see if we can possibly go .500 in conference play.

We have 3 players that are in rotation with less than 3 years' experience. The rest are all experienced. The schedule has to change.

How does a team improve winning games by an average of 31 a game? How does a team get in game shape for the rugged conference?

Be careful there, Maxy. You're on dangerous ground. Any more objective observations like that and your allegiance to the Gophers will be questioned.

Here is the way to contact the coaches. Make sure you use your actual name and with your full chest tell them how much more you all know about coaching and scheduling. They will forward the message to Jason and Dawn so you can let your voice be heard. Unless of course all of you are just looking for reasons to complain and hide behind faceless/nameless accounts.

Also to put it lightly, Patrick Reusse is one of the most sexist and ignorant pieces of shit around. He literally was the media member who commented on Alyssa Pili's weight at Lynx media day. So jumping on his bandwagon and acting like him is something to be proud of I guess.

I won't go through YET again why the schedule had some of these teams. You're all set to bitch and moan and be miserable "fans"

Once again YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH THE TEAM. Maybe go get a D1 job and show the coaches how it's done since you all are soooooooo smart and experienced coaches.

I too am genuinely curious about the schedule. No criticism to the coaching staff, as I am not a D1 coach and haven't any experience putting together a schedule for a team. I'm not trying to be mean, please don't tell me to watch another team if I don't like it. I'd actually love to chat with the coaching staff about it because I actually do want to learn about it. And I do also watch other teams as well. But competition reasons aside, I do wonder about the schedule purely from a business and marketing perspective, because a team is a business, especially in the NIL era.

A packed Barn is a much better atmosphere for fans, but fans aren't going to consistently come to games without a high quality product. And I'd imagine players prefer playing in front of a large crowd as well. So as a recruiting tool, and way to bring in more fans, shouldn't we be playing teams that will draw a crowd?

Star power builds storylines and makes people want to keep coming back, following a team. The Gophers have some awesome players, but having a WNBA caliber player will really draw in fans. But can the Gophers get WNBA caliber players without big crowds, without playing other high quality non-conference teams?

It can't possibly be that much fun to win all your non-conference games by such a wide margin. Last night's game was honestly cringy to watch at times, because it was such a mismatch, to the point it seemed dangerous. And then to lose your conference opener by such a large margin. As a fan, it's not all that much fun to watch. I've been to every home game this season, and last, and the best games are the close ones. Obviously. Or getting a relatively competitive game against a team with incredible players who we might not ordinarily get to see in person (UConn).

Again, I trust there is a larger vision at play, one I don't understand. But as a fan who loves watching competitive games, I do hope for more opportunities next season, to see non-conference games against Drake, St. Thomas, Green Bay, Marquette...really any team from the area who will bring in fans and give the Gophers stronger competition. I'd love to see some close games that have me worrying if my nerves can handle making it through till the final buzzer.

Well put. Could not agree more.

playing St Thomas .. is a lose lose...

if the Gopher lose that game the MEDIA is going to destroy them along with the fans.. even if they win.. it not going to help their NET and that's a lost.. plus if they lose what is that going to do for players the Gophers are looking at, losing to the small D1 school.. the Women and Men will never play st Thomas..

also Reusse is not someone I'd want to agree with.. he doesn't like or care about Women's sport.. he NEVER has and NEVER will..

I look forward to hearing how both of your interactions with the coaches go. I gave the way to contact them. They are all very responsive. So put your money where you mouth is and reach out to them.
Sweet! Thanks! I actually will send off a message because as I said, I genuinely would like to have a conversation about it. I've got a background in sports and entertainment marketing and there's definitely something I'm not understanding from a business perspective. And as a bonus, maybe Dawny P and I can become friends.

Someone's obviously thin-skinned in regards to those criticizing the Gophers non-conference schedule. No matter how you try to spin it, the Gophers non-conference schedule isn't worthy of a team who wants to make the NCAA tourney in March. Sure, a couple of the teams the Gophers scheduled have not been as formidable as expected. But I'm guessing that even Coach P would admit that they have to do better with future scheduling, not only to prepare the team better for the BIG schedule, but also from the marketing standpoint of attendance.

And it's silly to think that fans who criticize the schedule are not true fans and should stop following the team. I've been a Gopher women's basketball fan since the pre-Whalen era, I'm a big fan of Coach P and the current roster of players and coaches, and I think this year's non-conference schedule is extremely weak. You can give us the address of who to write a letter to advocating a stronger schedule. Maybe we should provide you with the address of the NCAA tournament selection committee so you can present your case if this team is on the bubble in March.

That was quite the leap. I was using a tweet of facts about SOS. I said nothing about supporting Reusse. He sometimes puts actual facts out for interpretation. I chose to interpret in my own way. I follow all the games, although hardly any get on actual TV. I look at every box score and interpret what I can.

I 100% supported that coaching change and Coach P is awesome. I know the schedule will get better and that it's a $$ issue with the athletic department that is problematic for scheduling. We went backwards in schedule this season.

I'm not a miserable fan at all and others on this board can probably vouch for my positivity.

BTW the last time I emailed the AD was to share that I thought the Football coach needed to be fired. He was fired the next day. AD must have listened. ;)

And one more thing: As weak as the non-con schedule is, the Gophers will still have a chance to make the NCAA tourney, but it may take 10 conference regular season wins instead of 9 because of the weak schedule.

Somehow Iowa and Iowa St survive playing Drake and UNI every year.
I know hockey is way different than basketball but the Gophers men's hockey team is supposed to be the best team in the state and they have no problem playing St. Thomas and they even managed to survive barely beating Bemidji State at home and losing a game at Bemidji State this year without being forced to fold the program.

Not counting the top-25 teams that only played cupcakes, the best recent comparison I can think of that hopefully the Gophers can somehow match this season is Illinois a couple years ago. The only team with a pulse they played non-conference (they had a non-conference SOS of 306) was at Missouri (a WNIT team), which would've been offset by losing to Delaware. Of course beating Iowa in Big Ten play helped their cause.

The Gophers play/have played St Thomas in M hockey, W hockey, soccer and volleyball. Why is St Thomas suddenly out of bounds for men's and women's hoops?

First of all, Drake and UNI are not still in their transitional period to D1 like St. Thomas is...something to keep in mind.

Actually not thick-skinned. Never once have I came on here and said the schedule was great or something wonderful. I did try to explain how they planned for it be better with Oregon State, SMU, Houston, Vermount etc. Clearly that fell on def ears.

The annoying part is the CONSTANT complaining. When the schedule came out fine share your thoughts on it being weak but it's literally every single thread.

I ask what is going to change still complaining about it midway through December? Is it going to change? Are teams magically going to be added? It's kicking and beating a dead horse over and over and over and over... I ask what does that accomplish? Don't wanna see the blowouts, dont go. its that simple. but please explain to me what bringing it up every single day and game does?

U will play St. Thomas if/when they are tournament eligible or move up another conference.

I simply pointed out that things must change... in the future and how do we improve with such a brutal schedule.

None of us are trying to accomplish anything and the Coaches/AD are not coming here to read what we post. These boards are for venting and sharing ideas with other (Fan)natics.

The schedule sucks. The reality is not too many posts on this site about Gopher Women’s hoops which is too bad… 16 posts during the game last night maybe.. Why because the opponent was awful…

Coming from a big dude myself .. would it not
be a double standard if he did not ask about a female pro athletes weight… Ask Zion Williamson about that or the numerous male athletes that have been called out..

Unknown BBall craz 31… thanks for the full chested lecture means a lot coming from The Unknown Poster…

Just an FYI, Players (Current& Former), Parents, and Coaches know about Gopherhole and do and have seen what is said on here.

That's a bad decision by those individuals in my opinion.

Nothing I said trashed anyone or questioned whether they should be at MN. Pretty sure I've never taken a swipe at any Gopher on here.

I simply said the schedule must be better. You turned it into something it wasn't.
