PLUS THREE FROM PATRICK

Underrated Gophers coaches since Murray Warmath (1954-71):

Cal Stoll (1972-78): Era of tough nonconference schedules. Close to a full turnaround in 1977.

Lou Holtz (1984-85): Embittered many by leaving quickly. Restored talent to program at its nadir; plus, a genius of offense.

Glen Mason (1997-2006). Maturi’s No. 1 blunder as AD: Impulsively firing Mason with no thought on how to replace him.

Go Gophers!!

Wut.

99 percent of Gopher fans would consider these the "good" Gopher coaches since Warmath. That leaves Salem, Wacker and Brewster. Plus Gutey, who is the only one who might create some debate.

"Underrated?" How is that defined here?

And cheated doing it. So he left in the dark of the night after being here for almost 2 full seasons and we faced NCAA penalties. Thanks for the favor.

Just like he left Arkansas and they faced penalties.

Just like he left ND and they faced penalties.

Just like he left South Carolina and they faced penalties.

The guy wins one (tainted) NCAA Championship with ND (an uphill climb for a cheater with those resources (SMDH)) and he goes into the College Football Hall of Fame? How big of a wing will they need to construct for Nick Saban?

**** Lou Holtz, and **** anyone who remembers him fondly.

It's Patrick...did you forget?

Couldn't agree more. Lou Holtz, the old prestidictator. Should have found his niche in standup comedy. Instead he ruins 5 football programs yet is portrayed as God's gift to college coaching. I wouldn't trust him to coach my son's little league.

But he prayed the night before he ditched the U for the f'ing elves so it's all good.
