Pat Forde on the coaching carousel and the CFB season

I just linked to this article in another thread. I will point out the scary stat I saw in this thread too...

Golden's name has been rumored, but here's the startling stat on the boss of the Owls: In five seasons at Temple he's never beaten a Mid-American Conference opponent that finished the season with a winning record.

How many MAC teams actually finish with an overall winning record though? Given the brutal non-conference schedules MAC teams tend to play, it would be more instructive to look at how many teams he's beaten with a winning conference record.

Believe it or not there are still some Minnesota Gopher fans out there...do you think they have ANY chance of landing a big name coach next year or are we going to get stuck with another "up-and-coming" type coach (those haven't worked out so well for us)? Thanks

John: I don't know. Joel Maturi talked to Brady Hoke, who seems to be a really good coach (although no friend of the media, from my experience). If you can win at Ball State and San Diego State, you're doing something right. Minnesota could do a lot worse than Hoke.

Go Gophers!!

Looked up the last three years

Golden has not beat one team with a winning conference record in the MAC. That is Mason like. He has 16 wins in the last three years in conference play.

2 against (4-4) teams
5 against (3-5) teams
3 against (2-6) teams
5 against (1-7) teams
1 against (0-8) teams

He beat UCONN this year and Navy last year.
