Average RPI of Opponents: 157.5
Average RPI of Home Opponents: 208.6
NCAA Qualifiers (2): Maryland, Temple
Top 100 (3): Temple (30), George Mason (51), Maryland (55)

The Good?: I like the early December tilt with Greivis Vasquez & Maryland. Or how about a Puerto Rico Tip-Off title game vs. potential upstarts K-State or Ole Miss?

The (not so) Bad?: A Big 5 matchup with LaSalle hasn't been a concern in recent years, but this may be the year the Explorers give 'Nova a serious tussle.

The Ugly?: I give Jay Wright a ton of credit for bowing to tradition and playing all the Big 5 opponents (LaSalle, Penn, Saint Joseph's & Temple), but in many respects it limits what Wright can do with his nonconference schedule. As a major-conference school, he has the most to lose in the Big 5 matchups.

SS,
Is it really worth giving Wright credit for playing the Big 5 schools? Is that really worse than playing Drexel or Deleware. It all seems the same to me and if he can keep a tradition going for the program, why not?

I understand your point and agree for the most part. Actually, overall, playing the Big 5 is better than playing the Drexels and Delawares. Saint Joe's and Temple certainly are solid programs, and up until a couple years ago Penn was a dominant force in the Ivy.

I like the fact Wright respects the schools' traditions, too. I'm not sure that was the case before him when Steve Lappas was the coach. I'm not certain, but I seem to remember Lappas balking at (or refusing to) having to play all 4 schools. I think that rubbed a lot of people in Philly the wrong way.
