NCAA Qualifiers (5): Cleveland State, Connecticut, Louisville, Morehead State, North Carolina
Top 100 (5): North Carolina (3), Louisville (4), Connecticut (8), Cleveland State (52), Miami-Ohio (80)

The Good?: He's one of the biggest greaseballs in college basketball, but John "Slick" Calipari knows how to coach and he knows how to schedule. Cal has never shied away from marquee regular-season games, and North Carolina, UConn, Indiana (they're still the Hoosiers) & Louisville certainly qualify as headliners.

The (not so) Bad?: What I like about this schedule is the middle-tier opponents. There are a lot of opponents in the top 150-160 range, and some of them (Miami-Ohio, Rider, Cleveland State, Drexel) may be capable of putting up a fight.

The Ugly?: As in-season tournaments go, the Cancun Challenge sports a weak field. A matchup with a rebuilding program (either Stanford or Virginia) in the title game doesn't exactly get the blood boiling.

Typical UK Schedule

IU, Louisville, UNC are longtime (regular) OOC games.

The UConn game is this year's "tough" opponent. Mich St (et al) in years past.

This UK schedule is a cupcake compared to Tubby's UK schedules.

See www.kenpom.com and check out SOS for UK in 1999 thru 2007.

I couldn't care less about Tubby's schedules while at Kentucky, but I do wonder when the next major conference, non-ACC team will visit William's Arena.

Give it a rest. This schedule is grueling (notice the dates of the UConn, IU and UNC games?) and compares favorably with any of the past 10 years for a team not coached by Billy Gillispie. Calipari didn't even want to play in the Cancun Challenge because of the weakness of the field and wanted another game this season with Duke or Texas at a neutral site and it couldn't get done.

Simply FALSE. UK played the #1 SOS in 2007 and similarly (Top 10 SOS) tough schedules most years from 1998 through 2007.

The 2009 UK schedule has a few tough games and quite a few cupcake games.

Look at the facts www.kenpom.com here (for 1999-2007 schedules).

FoT, perhaps we could petition the admin to create another board for you, so you can pick these pointless fights with The Truth and save GOPHER fans from reading through threads that have been diverted for your self-interest?

BNOT, Tubby's past schedules at UK have absolutely nothing to do with this breakdown of 2009-10 nonconference schedules, but thanks for sharing.

Do we need a new thread for each of these, how about a new post in 1 thread? It's hard to sift through to find any discussion on this board lately.

Point taken. I thought about that, but decided to go about it this way. For the most part I'm limiting it to 2 or 3 teams per day, excluding weekends. That's not a whole lot of threads considering there's not much going on in August. Certainly if the moderators ask me to combine everything, I will honor their request.

There's really no one talking anyways, no worries, I appreciate the scoop.
