He's correct. Calhoun (and Williams, Coach K, Self, Calipari, et al) dance right up to the edge of the line. Sometimes they get their toenail(s) over the line.

Funny how Parrish gives Calhoun credit for being able to deflect blame. So in other words, the mark of an elite coach is not playing by the rules, but rather finding a willing scapegoat whenever it looks like you may get caught. Sounds like we have a whole new way to judge "elite" basketball coaches in the future.

Interestingly enough, Calhoun's career W-L (%) record and W-L % in NCAA games are very nearly identical to Tubby's numbers.

JC has 2 NCAA titles in 38 years as HC. Tubby has 1 NCAA title in 19 years.

Calhoun is one of the most unethical recruiters in the game, and college basketball would be much better off without him.

Let's say the future basketball coach of UCONN, in the year 2025 or 2035, might try to hire one of the two assistant UCONN basketball coaches who were just punished by the NCAA for their unsavory recruiting misdeeds, and who brought shame and disgrace upon not only the UCONN program, but upon the university as a whole and the citizens of the state of Connecticut.

What should the future AD of UCONN do? Just pretend no one will remember way back in 2010?
Shrug and look the other way?
Or take the proper stand and nix the prospective job offer?

Hopefully, the UCONN AD would have the sack Joel Maturi has displayed...and would tell the prospective assistant 'not to quit his day job.'
