per Gary Parrish:

If Pearl got a three-year show-cause penalty for lying to the NCAA that's so severe that the mere anticipation of it cost him and his staff their jobs, why did former Miami coach Frank Haith -- now the head coach at Missouri -- only get a five-game suspension for allegedly lying to the NCAA about something far worse than a cookout?

"My biggest thing is consistency," Steven Pearl tweeted Tuesday. "What Bruce did was wrong. He admitted to his mistake. But everyone needs to be held to that same standard."

Well put, Steven.

Problem is, that's never been how the NCAA operates.

And, I'm starting to think, that'll never be how the NCAA operates.

Because the NCAA is a joke.

It doesn't hurt that the president of your university has been a big wig in politics. Shalala used to be the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, among other things.

Jim Tressel I'm sure would have preferred a suspension of 1/8 of the season like what Haith got. Haith I believe was funneling money to buy a player though, the worst kind of violation. Haith certainly has no business coaching in college basketball if Pearl doesn't.
