im going with at least 2.5 taking the under with the way they seam to have the new building being sited right on top of the dome. No way they don't just raze ol' bubbletop first then build anew.

Given the amount of money they stand to lose playing at TCF something tells me they make it happen. It's been done elsewhere. I'd say they play a little over 1 season (maybe 1.5) at the new stadium. Ideally for the U I'm hoping it's 2.

One. The powers that be want the Metrodome open as long as possible--and not for the Vikings purposes, but all the other functions. I predict Dome closes around March of 2015; Vikes play 2015 season at the Bank; the new stadium opens August 2016. There's a small possibility it could get accelerated one year, but I think that still leaves this scenario intact.

Under your scenario that puts at 17 months the time from the dome closing to the new stadium opening?? I assume that means much of the construction on the new stadium will be done while the dome is open?

I think you'll see at least two years at the TCF Bank Stadium for the Vikes.

Just as a way of comparison, here are construction timelines (from groundbreaking to first event) for some of the newer (fully enclosed) stadiums of the NFL:

Dallas - 44 months
Phoenix - 39 months
Indianapolis - 35 months
Detroit - 32 months
Houston - 29 months

I will go with a sure thing... Over 0.

Since they're blowing the dome up and putting it in the same spot, it'll absolutely be more than a year.

nm. Didn't see that they completely changed the location in the latest plan. It will be the full three/four years.

These were also all built adjacent to the prior stadium, or in an entirely new location.

I'm guessing we're looking at 2 seasons of Vikings football at TCF. Dome closes in February 2015; new stadium opens in August 2017. From start to finish, 31 months. Vikes spend 2015 and 2016 seasons at The Bank. Potentially they could open the new stadium mid-season 2017 and spend 2.5 years if more time is needed, but I doubt that option is on the table (or, if it is, it's way down the list).

Correct. The plan is to build the portions of the new stadium that are adjacent to the existing Dome structure and then tear down the current Dome and complete the new stadium. Here's a layout of the new stadium plan that the Vikes released when the bill that passed the Legislature was first introduced. The current dome structure is the dashed line:

Interesting fact. Because they'll have built much of the new stadium adjacent to the Dome, they won't be able to implode the existing Dome structure. They'll have to dismantle it and knock it down in sections.

I've heard the roof part comes down quite easily.

I'll say 2 years. The plan is for one year, but the plan involving keeping the Dome operational until while construction goes on seems to have too many chances for something to go wrong.

That's my thinking too. If everything goes flawlessly then maybe the current plan is doable. But it just seems like this is a plan ripe for delays based on unexpected issues.

Depends on the type of power tools they use. If the hardhats are using
Black/Decker. The Little Darlings will play in TCF for 3 years. Sears Craftsman, 2 years.

Goodness gracious, you are a tool.

gotta love the "ignore list" feature. I don't use it often, but when I do I find myself getting a little jolt of satisfaction every time I see it work for me. One thing I find sort of interesting is I have only ever used it for 4 or 5 such "tools" and Ruppert is the only one left that hasn't been banned by the site... yet. So, he is the only "active" member of my ignore list.

Ruppert's thread about being hammered on James Bond martinis gave him new life on Gopherhole. That was an awesome OP on that thread.

I of course didn't see it. If he has another 4,000 great posts to balance things out, I will always have the option to take him off my ignore list. Keep me posted. :)

Good Snoozer, because you never lend anything to the conversation except badmouthing. I've sat through insurance seminar's that have more spice than your mundane posts. I get it Snoozer, you don't like Ruppert T Flywheel. Your gig is wearing thin. Try and come up with something original.
If anybody should be banned it should be you with your " watching paint dry" posts.

Ah, based on that drawing, you may be correct.
