im going with at least 2.5 taking the under with the way they seam to have the new building being sited right on top of the dome. No way they don't just raze ol' bubbletop first then build anew.
One. The powers that be want the Metrodome open as long as possible--and not for the Vikings purposes, but all the other functions. I predict Dome closes around March of 2015; Vikes play 2015 season at the Bank; the new stadium opens August 2016. There's a small possibility it could get accelerated one year, but I think that still leaves this scenario intact.
Since they're blowing the dome up and putting it in the same spot, it'll absolutely be more than a year.
Under your scenario that puts at 17 months the time from the dome closing to the new stadium opening?? I assume that means much of the construction on the new stadium will be done while the dome is open?
I think you'll see at least two years at the TCF Bank Stadium for the Vikes.
Just as a way of comparison, here are construction timelines (from groundbreaking to first event) for some of the newer (fully enclosed) stadiums of the NFL:
Dallas - 44 months
Phoenix - 39 months
Indianapolis - 35 months
Detroit - 32 months
Houston - 29 months

Interesting fact. Because they'll have built much of the new stadium adjacent to the Dome, they won't be able to implode the existing Dome structure. They'll have to dismantle it and knock it down in sections.
I've heard the roof part comes down quite easily.
The plan is for one year, but the plan involving keeping the Dome operational until while construction goes on seems to have too many chances for something to go wrong.
Little Darlings
Goodness gracious, you are a tool.
gotta love the "ignore list" feature. I don't use it often, but when I do I find myself getting a little jolt of satisfaction every time I see it work for me. One thing I find sort of interesting is I have only ever used it for 4 or 5 such "tools" and Ruppert is the only one left that hasn't been banned by the site... yet. So, he is the only "active" member of my ignore list.
