OU TE Kaden Helms has committed to MN.

2022: Redshirt, 3 games played, 1 rec for 4 yards
2023: Injured
2024: 8 games played, 2 rec for 19 yards, 1 TD
2025: 9 games played, 5 rec for 35 yards, 1 TD

Was a 4-star recruit out of HS. Wonder if he can get a 6th year granted due to injury.
Welcome aboard.

Listed at 6-5 and only 238 pounds so a bit on the light side for a TE. Might be more of a pass catcher than blocker.
He's wearing #18 and split out in the file photo of him we've got so you are probably right. Just hasn't caught a lot of passes so far in his career.

Nice add! Great pedigree, we and many others offered him out of high school. He’s from powerhouse Bellevue West in Nebraska.

Chip Kelly offense, team that beat the Gophers and was just one game behind in the standings. Not a huge stretch if he’s already been playing in state and wants to get out of state. Not sure what other offers were.
Not really sure I understand the allure of Chip Kelly in this day and age. He had the most talented offense in football last year at Ohio State and they weren't super overpowering. I did some digging and it's not like his TE's lit it on fire either (but neither have GOphers TE's either) , but to your second point I could totally understand that.

TE’s under Kelly past 5 years

Max Klare:43 rec in 2024 448 yards

Moliki Matavao: 14 rec for 283 yards in 2023 (Loya was top rec for this team with 655 yards)

Michael Ezeike: 20 rec for 226 yards in 2022

Greg Dulcich: 42 rec for 725 yards in 2021

Greg Dulcich 26 rec for 517 yards in 2020

Northwestern is not a bad school either.
