Part of the fun of college football is the teams that come out and surprise and this being half way through the season, I thought a discussion of those teams might be in order. I've really taking a liking to this year's Clemson team. They start two true freshmen at wide receiver (with Watkins being an absolute stud) and have a true freshmen running back who gets a lot of carries. Their defense isn't the greatest, but they have a, so far, unstoppable offense. They will almost for sure be the BCS representitive from the ACC. Check them out if you haven't seen them.

I've also been watching a lot of Oklahoma St. They have the best wideout in college football that I've seen and they have a 28 year old qb who played minor league baseball for a numebr of years. They may be the 2nd best team in their state right now, but I think they could beat OU. They are another fun team to watch...

Kansas St. is the big surprise in the Big 12 however, although I haven't yet been able to watch them. Will be interesting once they play the big boys to see how they do. Another team worth checking out.

And my SMU team is 5-1 with a win over TCU, so I've been catching them whenever possible. They are on tv tonight against Southern Miss. Not really worth watching over MSU v Wisconsin though. Who else should we be paying attention to?

The nice thing about the Big East is that they play a lot of Thursday and Friday games. My Saturdays are usually filled with the Gophers' exploits, so I don't see much else on Saturday.

So, during the past 4 or 5 years, i have really seen a lot of BE football. I know its the worst AQ league, but it still can be entertaining. Several years ago I was cheering for Rutgers quite a bit, then the last couple of years it was UConn. My new BE team is Syracuse.

My SMU team got pounded tonight by Sothern Miss. I'm real excited to see Stanford and USC next week. I'd like to see Stanford go all the way...

K-State is indeed the surprise of the country. The old man still knows how to coach big-time college football.
