Some of the longer term Gopherholers might recall Oldtimer (Gene Earl from Upland, CA). He hasn;t posted in a while and because he is 84 years old I (and maybe some others) think about his health on occasion. Anyway, I received a Chrstmas card from he and Doreen (Sweetie), and it sounds as if they are OK.

Glad to hear that

I haven't heard from Gene in awhile and was wondering how
they were doing out in CA.

Hopefully we'll get that Rose Bowl trip that they can make!

Great to hear they are both well. I believe Oldtimer & I have an appointment to view his collection of the Peach Section. That would be very special.

Are there archives of past threads?

To hear that Oldtimer is still fighting the fight is good. It got me thinking as to whether any of the old archives from the mid to late 90's were saved? Back then, the site was switched around quite often, but somehow always resurfaced. If there are threads from the 90's I would love to see if there was a way to post a "classic thread from the past".
Here are some name monikers to have posted.

1) Old Timer... what a hoot! Loved his posts and his passion for Gopher football.
2) Bob39....worst speller on the planet..loved the Gophers but told it like it was.
3) Wrendahl...Many here dislike old Wren..the biggest cheerleader ever for the U of M. I miss him.
4) Loon...C'mon. The Goofy Canadian had many posts that made me chuckle. Others, hit delete.
5) BIOV...The lunatic badger fan has been around for a long time. If he lurks, he rarely posts.
6) Nine...Level headed poster with insight...Maybe he's hanging around the pay site??
7) Gopher83...Wittiest poster. Ever.
8) Bleedgopher...Occasionally posts here. In the old days, he'd provide a lot of scoops.
9) Pac10Sucks..Just liked his nickname.
10)Flafan...Whatever happened to our Lake Mary, Florida gopher fan?

Glad to hear OldTimer is doing well, I remember his posts and hope he'll be able to see the Gophers in the Rose Bowl out his way in the near future.

CWCWCW- Here's what I know about the "old posters" you mentioned

Bob39- I noticed he was on the Minnesota Rivals board a few years ago, but have not seen a post by him in a long time, though he could still be there (I don't check the messageboards there that often).

No's 3 and 4- Unfortunately, neither of these 2 are hard to find. One of the two is now on the scout.com board, and both have caused Kent Youngblood headaches on the Strib's Gopher blogs comment section.

Badgerinohiovalley- I believe he made an appearance on this board around signing day last year. He's guaranteed to bring up that the Gophers have never signed a kid that Wisconsin also offered no matter how much evidence to the contrary is out there. The main reason "Wisconsin cooled on him" is still so funny.

Nine- Still posts here occasionally, but I believe he's a regular on the Rivals premium board. I am sure he'll set the record straight if I am incorrect. Still provides great insight when he does post.

Gopher83- don't remember this poster

Bleedgopher- Bleed is affiliated with this site and still posts frequently.

Pac10sucks- No idea where he/she is at

FlaFan- I miss FlaFan occasionally, I thought for sure he'd post something after the Gophers epic collapse from 7-1 to 7-5. He hasn't posted in a long time to my knowledge.

Thanks for the news about Oldtimer. I always LOVED to read his posts. It was like going back in a time machine.

I hope the Gophers can make it to Pasedena before his time is gone.

Bob39 posts quite a bit on GI and BIOV can be found at buckyville.

Remember that Minnesota Pride guy that would write six page responses to like every thread?

Not a post goes out, not a thought about the coverage with out thinking about The Oldtimer. Gene, this one's for you!

I will continue to bash this crop of ink stained wretches, while thinking of the glory which was the Peach Section and journalists the likes of Gene!
