OT: Interesting Kansas/NIU connection...

As many know new Minnesota head coach and ex-Northern Illinois head coach Jerry Kill is originally from Cheney, Kansas (down by Wichita).

Incoming Northern Illinois head coach and ex-Wisconsin defensive coordinator Dave Doeren is from Shawnee Mission, Kansas (Kansas City).

Well Interim Northern Illinois head coach and linebacker coach Tom Matukewicz is a Silver Lake, Kansas (near Topeka) native .

The coach replacing Matukewicz on Coach Kill's staff as the linebacker coach is ex-Kansas linebacker coach Bill Miller who is a Hutchinson, Kansas (north of Wichita) native.

Here is another connection... Jerry Kill played college ball at Southwestern College (Winfield, KS). He was coached there by Dennis Franchione who is a Girard, Kansas native. Franchione was the coach that gave him his first college coaching gig also.

Kill was Gary Patterson's (TCU head coach) best man in his wedding. Patterson is a Rozel, Kansas native. Patterson was Franchione's DC at both New Mexico and TCU I believe.
