I know this doesn't effect us directly but looks like the folks on the East coast from all of the pictures and News cast's are going to need our help.
Does anyone know if the Salvation Army will have the red holiday kettles or the Minneapolis Fire department be on hand to collect donations for the disaster relief
effort from the Red Cross or Salvation Army. Maybe someone with some athletic department contacts could help set something up.
I have already contributed on each the Salvation Army and Red Cross websites, but was hoping to give a cash donation
to a kettle or something. The situation in New York, West Virgina and New Jersey still looks very dangerous, with all of the leaking gas lines and the downed power lines from
wind and snow. I think a sporting event like our game Saturday would be a good place to collect donations and to see that these resources get in the right peoples hands.

I would encourage anyone if they have the means or can help out to do so, and chip in even a little if you can. I would hope if we were in the same disaster situation that they the East coast States would step up and help us out.
With the election coming up people have been pretty focused on that but I'm going to put the politics aside and see what I can do to help out in this relief cause.
The video and pictures show it looks like a war zone or bomb has been dropped. With all of the water flooding and the sewage backup I'm sure clean drinking water
and health is a major concern. When it is not in your own backyard it is easy to overlook. I know the Federal government is working on ways to help, I hope besides
prayer, and sympothy that in some small way we Gopherholers can help out our fellow Americans in there time of need. Talking to a former co-worker from the Minneapolis Grain Exchange who now lives in New Jersey in Newark, the pictures do not do justice to how bad people are struggling to get cell service, transportaion or even a clean shower.
Hopefully these people will feel that we all care. Go Gophers
