You'd think after Hoffarber lit them up for 7 threes a couple days ago, 6 threes in Columbus last year that they'd know how to find the shooter and not allow him to shoot.

Hummel has 23 pts with 2 min left in the first half, including 6 threes (all 6 wide open) so far. Unbelievable. How can you leave someone that wide open?

Maybe Matta should think about going man-to-man for a bit? Purdue's jumpers are so wide open my dead grandmother could hit a few.

Make that 8 threes...Hummel has 29 with 1:32 left in the 1st half...

Wow...Matta goes back to man-to-man. You think he would've tried that 10-20 min ago?

Sweet Jebus. Just insanity how many points he's putting up.

Hummel is insane. I've never seen a Big Ten player score like this in a conference game. Unbelievable. If I were Matta, I would grab one of my players (probably Lighty) and say "I want you so in his face that when he looks in the mirror tomorrow, he sees your reflection looking back." I would also add that I would want him to follow Hummel everywhere, even to the Purdue bench for TV timeouts if necessary because it's pretty obvious nothing else is working for the Buckeyes so far.

I didn't notice...

I didn't notice but did whiney-ass turner lose his contact and have to call a "mommy-non-timeout" pause in the action?

:)

That is what is so crazy! After Hummel hits 3-4, maybe 5 in a row, you think you'd switch to man-to-man and stick someone in his grill?!

Matta just stuck with the zone nearly the entire half when Purdue/Hummel was bombing from all over. You HAVE to switch it up when you're getting destroyed like that. Just stupidity IMO.

I know! I had the EXACT same thought. He had wide open looks throughout the first half, even AFTER he got hot. Somebody on the Ohio State side needs to learn defensive recognition. They couldn't find Hoffarber against us and now they can't find Hummel against Purdue.

I think I'm pulling for PU. We won't catch them and we might be dueling OSU ?????

That was a pretty crazy ball-game. Hummel with 34, Turner with 32 and Purdue gives up a double-digit lead in the final 10 minutes to lose at home. Pretty nuts all the way around.

So...what does an OSU win do to the Gophers?

Purely from an RPI perspective, I'd imagine OSU winning is good. I can't fathom losing at Purdue looking bad for us this season. If OSU can really turn it around, beating them by 10+ with Turner might look very good.

I watched the 1st half....

where Hummel was hitting from everywhere, (and the bucks were leaving him open) but Matt Painter has to answer for JuJuan Johnson just getting 5 shots!!

You may live by the 3, but you can die that way too without inside help.

Lots of great sports to watch/play but it's pretty hard to top college BB.

How did OSU win this game? I wasn't able to watch. I'm not complaining since this helps our resume, but based on our last two games I thought Purdue >> OSU.

Ohio State

Buckeyes will finish in the Top 3 of the conference even though they started out with 3 losses.

There next 7 Big 10 games they could go 6-1 if you look at the schedule and they have a non-confrence game in the mix against W.Virg.

They should expect to go 6-1 since 5 of the 7 are at home and the other two are at Iowa and at Indiana. They are just entering the soft part of their schedule which all teams have, doesn't mean they will finish third. I'm guessing they finish up the year with a brutal stretch of road games.

So which Big Ten game are they going to lose in the next 7? Ken Pomeroy predicts OSU wins all their Big Ten games until the trip to MSU in mid-February, so the odds are 7-0 rather than 6-1. The only thing separating OSU from being a top-15 team the past couple seasons has been injuries - if Lighty didn't get hurt last year, they would've had a much better record & losing Turner cost them two games (and their ranking) this season.

Purdue hasn't been as good as they were billed to be, obviously. They need their PG if they want to make a Final Four run.
