at the moment. They are just destroying Illinois in Champagne.

And Gopher Fans think we have trouble against a zone? Absolutely has the Illini stymied. 63-42? Holy Moly Rockie!

Illinois is just finally falling back to their actual level.

We'll find out who the champion is on Wednesday.

Now THAT'S the Gopher Warrior I'm familiar with! I swear, every time I see Turner play I'm more impressed.

What I like is it's looking like the Big 10 has 3 teams (MSU, OSU, Purdue) that have a legitimate chance to go deep into March, and maybe a 4th (Illinois or Bucky, if Leuer gets healthy) can sneak into the Sweet 16. Certainly, unlike in recent seasons, the top 4 should get favorable seeds. That makes a big difference.

Your comment inspired me. Turner is completely legit.

Purdue, MSU and tOSU are all very good teams. Fine, Wisconsin too. I'm not sure any of them sneak into the Final Four this year, but it's possible. Overall vs. expectations the Big Ten is bad this year (including Minnesota and Michigan)... but maybe some of these teams can 'make up' for it.

I'd be surprised if one of the them (MSU, Purdue, OSU) didn't make it to the final four, to be honest.

I agree with this statement. The (likely) #1 seeds don't scare me as much as last year. Kentucky, Syracuse, Villanova. ... they're all very good sqauds, but they have a lot more warts than last year's top teams. I would not be surprised in the least if MSU, Purdue, Ohio State or even Wisconsin (especailly if Leuer is anything close to 100%) ran into those teams and beat them.

Kansas, I think is the closest thing to a Final Four shoo-in. They'll be a little tougher for the best Big 10 teams to match up with because of their combination of talent, size, depth and experience.

I wouldn't be surprised by anything, but your point is well taken, guys. Louisville winning at Syracuse today.. yikes. Watching Big East basketball is truly fun.

PS - Pitt @ Marquette Thursday on ESPN2... going for 6 in a row.

It was an entertaining game, but if you're implying that it's more entertaining than Big Ten basketball...no.

you are absolutely correct, rc, because we get to watch Ed Hightower!!!

Marquette

Marquette will prove its legitimacy if it beats Pitt. They're on a roll, yes, but when you look at it really closely, who have they beaten during the 5-game winning streak? Rutgers, UConn, DePaul, Providence and South Florida. Not exactly the heavyweights of the Big East. What I see is 1 bubble team (USF) during that stretch. UConn, like North Carolina, is a quality win in name only at this point, not for anything they've done on the court.

Huh? I simply said Marquette is on ESPN2. Aren't you the kid that posts, "big bubble games of the weekend"... and highlighted last night's USF @ Marquette game as being the most meaningful? All of a sudden it has no meaning? UCONN beating Texas? Blah, no biggie. Marquette beating Georgetown? Nothing. Winning 5 in a row in the Big East? Zero, everyone does it.

A win vs. Pitt will help greatly for the postseason people - but, MU is already legit, my man.

Doc.. I wish this were true, believe me. Ed does more Big Ten games than others... but that's not all he does.. his #2 conference has been the Big East for several seasons... if both Minnesota and Marquette both have important games at the same time, on the same night, in the same time zone, I always fully expect him to be at both of them.

Yes, that was me, and thanks for calling me a "kid". I haven't been called that in quite some time.

I did not say the USF game had no meaning, quite the contrary. I'm simply pointing out that the Warriors' 5-game winning streak hasn't included any of the Big East's top teams. Good luck vs. Pitt on Thursday. Win that one and your squad will be looking pretty good for a NCAA bid.

I definitely think OSU will go the furthest of any Big Ten team and have a decent chance at the Final Four.

Hah.. I can live with that. Your comment is fair, it was just a bit out of the blue. (i.e., I did a PS-MU is on ESPN2 and you went off topic). We started off (with an inexperienced group) with Nova twice, WVU and Georgetown... 1-3, losing the three games... by a total of... 5 or 6 points. Glad we're in the current stretch of the schedule! You're right though - work must still be done and a win Thursday would be very helpful.

A very fun time of the year. Worthy of breaking out the 'Champagne'.

Only if Purdue beats OSU. If OSU wins then we are still looking at a potential 3-way tie because MSU has to play @ Purdue and OSU has to play @MSU.

Yeah, they're my choice at the moment. I'm like a pinball though, (does anyone even play pinball anymore?) I went from thinking Purdue is the strongest to Michigan State and now to Team Turner.

Fair enough. That makes me feel better about my pessimism heading into Wednesday night.

I'm not sure any of the Big 10 teams have the depth to make a deep run in the tournament this year.
