I am coming to the OSU game to watch Drew Goodger play. I was his high school coach in Kansas City and I am coming up with part of my staff to cheer him on (6 of us) . We came to the Whiskey game last year and had a ball... the hospitality was unreal! We are looking for a tailgate party to go to. Not looking to mooch would be willing to pay just hard to bring stuff from so far away. Really looking to tell stories, drink, eat, drink and tell stories. We "aren't as good as we once was" but we will sure try hard as hell! Need some ideas on where to go Friday, Laid back..not fighting college kids but always like a large group plus where to tailgate on Saturday before the game. Of course we would love to hook up with some Gopher fans and visit. I have known Coach Kill and 80 percent of his staff since I played against him when he coached at Pitt State! It is going to be a great trip. Please let me know.

Just so you know I helped organize a bowl watch party for the Gophers last year in Kansas City and they said it was the largest attended Gopher Event in KC history!! I am excited in seeing Drew in his last home game!! Me and my staff are so proud of him and all of the great people he has been around in his 4 years!

Fired up and ready...

Thanks Gopher Fans!!!!

If you don't mind a 20 minute walk to the stadium, there is parking for $10/vehicle on the river flats behind the Coffman Union. The advantages there are lots of space, especially grassy area, so you can play any tailgate game you want. There are some big groups that congregate down there, and there are mostly all alumi, so its not too undergraddy. Also, you don't need any kind of pass. Pretty much any space up close to the stadium that allows tailgating requires season tickets, and donations, and a season parking pass, so if you aren't looking to walk from the river, you unfortunately probably need to find a group to let you tailgate with, and put your car in one of the ramps before joining them. Love watching Goodger play, thanks in advance for coming up.

Glad to hear you guys are making the trip again. Where did you end up tailgating last year? Goodger has been a great Gopher. He had many big catches last year, and I think he is due for some still this year.

I'd also recommend the East River Flats. Here is information on it. However, there is no longer a shuttle, so walking or taking the light rail is the way to get to TCF.

I can't believe Goodger is done already. He's been a great representative for the football program. I have a mutual friend with his girlfriend's parents (she's on the Gopher women's hockey team) and they have nothing but great things to say about him. You have every right to be proud.

Have a great time! Hopefully you'll be able to see a win.

Ok, I got it. Friday Night, Cowboy Jacks. Several venues; but I would suggest Bloomington (which is right on your way). I've been there several times and always had a good time. Here's the web-site: http://bloomington.theaftermidnightgroup.com/ You have several to choose from.

Also, there's the old standby; Toby Keith's http://countrybarmn.com/

Enjoy your time in the Twin Cities.

Have fun!

Hope I'm not letting out a big secret here- but park for FREE near a light rail station on University Avenue and take the light rail to the game. Westgate station (for example) has plenty of residential parking around it - within 2 blocks at most. The Light Rail drops you off right in front of the stadium and next to the tailgating lots. Fares on it are $1.75. For Friday night- The Big Ten and Stub and Herb's are best bets on campus. Off campus- just depends on where you are staying.

I'd recommend Northeast Minneapolis for bar-hopping on Friday night. There's the classic Nye's Polonaisse room (featured on at least a couple food network shows), the Bulldog, Gasthof zur Gemutlichkeit (a German bar/restaurant), and Psycho Suzi's. The latter two have also been featured on either Food Network or Travel Channel. The crowd in Northeast is varied - some college students through some 40-ish folks like myself. I'd offer to show you around myself but I'm out of town that weekend!

Rent a limo. Come to Mick's office in Moorhead.

Where are you staying on Friday? That may help spur some ideas on places to visit.

Hit up one of the local breweries. 612 Brewery, Indeed, Dangerous Man, Steel Toe, etc...

Embassy Suites Minneapolis - North - Brooklyn Center

There is nothing I would recommend in Brooklyn Center for your Friday night. Take a cab, Uber, or Lyft into Minneapolis. "Word" recommended Northeast Minneapolis, which would be a good option. I would also recommend downtown Minneapolis. Downtown offers plenty of options for you, depending on what you want - Cowboy Jack's, Shout House, Brothers, Sneaky Pete's, Pourhouse, Lyon's Pub, Brit's Pub, The Local, and many others. There is also an abundance of great restaurants downtown. Have fun and enjoy your visit!

All above suggestions are good. If you can change your hotel reservations, stay downtown Mpls so you can be close to all the fun in Downtown,
Northeast, and Dinkytown. You will be able to hop on the Light Rail on Saturday morning when, and be on campus in 15 minutes with no need to worry about driving back to your hotel on Saturday eve.

I am cheap ass... saving 80 bucks a room staying a little bit away... figured we can a cab and go anywhere and back we want Friday night?/ (agree) Probably take a cab to the game also... and get a ride with college girls on way back... or another cab... or walk 5 miles..

Friday night --- I'd cab it to Northeast and start at Dangerous Man .. if hungry, across the street is Anchor Fish & Chips .. excellent Alaskan Cod .. Then head to Indeed. Next, cab it downtown.. Check out The Local, Barrio, Kieran's, among many others...

Understood. The only other thing I would say is that cabs in Minneapolis are not cheap. From your hotel to downtown/campus will be $20 - $30 each direction, so you may not end up saving any money. Thus, I would still reconsider staying downtown, as WorkingMyTailOff suggested.

You can also try Uber car service instead of a cab. Good chance it might be considerably cheaper than a traditional yellow cab. Imo, Uber (or Lyft although I am not sure if Lyft is currently licensed to service Brooklyn Center yet) work great and you can usually score a good price quote from one of their drivers. If so, make sure one of you downloads the android or iphone app on one of your smartphones in advance and set up an account.

Thanks for all the advice... going to be chilly but I don't care! So pumped to see the Gophers, and meet some of the nicest fans in College Football!!!

PS... Urban Meyer pays more for his haircuts than I do for a car payment.... Would love to see him pouting after the game... big lip sticking out...

It's going to be a fun game, and you guys will have a blast. I hope the Gopher players embrace the cold and use it to their advantage. I remember hearing about how teams used to hate playing the Vikings outdoors late in the season.

You guys are having all kinds of bad weather luck on your trips. After experiencing the coldest day for Gopher football at TCF, the OSU game should break that record.

You like Dylan?

If you do, get a snap of the 2nd level above the Loring pasta bar in Dinkytown where Bob Dyaln lived when at the U. Include a snap of the 4th street sign located a block down for Postively 4th St tho some will tell you the song is based on a st in NY.

Yea...we are excited about being present in the two coldest days at TCF.... never got cold last year till 4th qtr... and our 3 mile walk back to the hotel.. We are going to try to be a little smarter this year...maybe not go so hard so quick... oh well... we can get smarter next year!!
