- Saturday's home football game for Oregon State against Minnesota will most likely go on as planned.
OSU sports information director Steve Fenk said the air quality in Corvallis should be fine by game time (7 p.m.) at Reser Stadium.
Smoke from fires in the state has settled in some areas, including Eugene, where it has been a much bigger problem.
- Run game blocking
Co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach T.J. Woods spoke on the line's up-and-down play in the run game.
Woods said the linemen know their blocking assignments and it has come down to how well they've been executing those blocks.
"And we're working on that," Woods said. "That comes down to technique up front, too. And, quite frankly, the guys have been challenged that way, to sustain blocks. We're on the right people. They understand the offense, they understand what they're doing, which is a huge positive. They know what they're doing and I think they know how to do it, but the consistency of the how is what we're missing right now."
Woods said the Beavers have played two solid run defenses
D ), but that they have been making the mistakes that have slowed the run game.
"The biggest problem right now is not what defenses are doing to us, it's more about what we're doing to ourselves with our technique up front," he said.
One sack
The offensive line has been good about keeping defenders away from the quarterback.
The Beavers have given up just one sack in the first two games for the first time since 1988.
"I'm pleased with where we're at right now," Woods said. "There's always room for improvement. No matter what you do, no matter what the results are: There's good, there's bad.
"I'd say overall it's adequate what we're doing in the passing game and that's been a huge point of emphasis all offseason, and so it's nice to see some of that stuff show up.
