per this story from HawkeyeReport:

"I've really enjoyed Ole Miss, Auburn, Minnesota, and Iowa," said Johnson. "I guess you could call that a top four, but I'm still open to everyone really."

Up next might be visits to Michigan State and Vanderbilt for the three-star prospect as both schools have been showing a lot of interest recently. With a wide range of schools and conferences on his list, Johnson does not see distance playing a major role when he ultimately goes to decide.

"Distance isn't going to affect my decision at all honestly," Johnson said. "I just want to go where I fit in the best, where I really get along really well with the players and coaches, and where I have the best chance to succeed and get to the next level."

Go Gophers!!

I know that Kill likes TEs, but with one commitment already and only a few scholarships left do you think another TE is a priority?

Yes, we have two graduating this coming year and another the next year.

Yes again. Don't forget that Johnson could very easily grow into a very athletic Offensive tackle, or could possibly even play on defense depending on his skill/mind set. I see him as a versitile type of recruit, not just a future tight end. Bring him on board and find the right spot for him long term.

I don't really give Auburn and Ole Miss much of a shot do you guys? He's visited Iowa a couple times which scares me.

I think he'd play early here if he were to commit. He must like something down south if he's considering Auburn, Ol Miss, and Vandy.
Iowa seems young and talented at TE, I'd bet he's an OT prospect for them.
I think he'd play 4 years here and be a major part of Kill's O. Come on man represent MN!

If he is stellar in the classroom, Vandy would make sense. Otherwise, none of these southern schools will be a good fit for him. He'll find out the hard way that living in a place like Mississippi or Alabama is not fun. It's one thing to visit there for a few days, it's another thing to live there and adjust to the culture. If he is smart, he'll stay as far away from the bible-belt as humanly possible. The Big 10 and several east and west coasts have much better schools in terms of academics than any of the SEC schools (with the exception of Vandy). If his only goal is to play pro ball, we probably wouldn't want him and in that case we'd care less if he goes to the SEC. Although I'd hate to see him go to Iowa or another Big 10 school for reasons of conference competition, I hope for his sake he picks a good school (not just a football factory). That all said, I hope MN gets him. Go Gophers!

I don't know, those SEC schools are pretty fun. I am hoping Will Johnson comes to the U but I don't think he will choose to avoid Ole Miss or Auburn because it isn't fun to live there. If you are 18-22 and living on campus (especially being a football player there, i'd imagine) he would have a great time at those schools.

That said, I am really hoping this kid commits. I think he will be an OT prospect here, especially down the road.

I imagien that he could see plenty of early playing time. We need to remember that we are essentially running a multiple Te/H-Back set. We need a lot of these kinds of players. But I do think his future will eventually be as an OT.

If he likes a great game day experience (The Grove) and pretty girls (especiallly in the case of Ole Miss) I could see how those SEC schools would be fun to play at.

Honestly, he is still a kid. He is going on trips to these places where all of the coaches and recruiting staff is falling all over him. I can see how this could be very enjoyable for a kid his age; but I also could see how this could get old very fast.

I hope he comes because I could easily see how his height could develop him into a good Left Tackle.
