I don't like it. We have run it twice now and both times we were nowhere close to coming up with the recovery.

Overall the game was about what I expected though with Robinson out I thought we might have a shot to keep it close. Unfortunately their defense and some interesting play calls kept us stuck on that unlucky 13 which in Big Ten play = a L for us it seems.

What would you like to see us do with the new rules this year?

I would do anything other than what their two previous onside attempts have been. They aren't even close.

Can the kicker not try a little harder putting the ball where our guys are? Or kick it outside where their guys are not? If this truly is the new rule I would short kick it high and make a fat fullback try and fair catch the ball.

I'm pissed off on these feeble uncreative attempts

Do you have any clue what the new onside-kick rules are?

I'm guessing not. The new rule makes the center trickle or fake to the outside the only options. I was bummed about the rule because onside kicks were already improbable enough, not they're next to impossible. Between that and the 25 yard line touchback on kickoffs, special teams has taken a big backseat in college football.

Can they try to bang it hard off a defender?

This is what I have been yelling at the tv. Hit a line drive off their front row and you actually have a very good chance.

The new rules certainly make onside kicks even less likely to be successful but I have still seen teams running a more traditional look on onside kicks in other games as opposed to what we are doing with the entire team bunched around the kicker. Bottom line is we have not come close to recovering either of those attempts.

I didn't see how they kicked it, but USC was very. Lose to recovering one without an Oregon player even close to it.

Anyone know how they ran their kick?
