Catered menu options with expanded food and beverage choices are going to be permitted in Private Suites at TCF Bank Stadium but will not be permitted anywhere else in the facility. You need to spend $45,000 for a private suite.

The Indoor Club Seats are going to have a private bar and catered buffet. The Indoor Club Seats cost $3000 per seat.

The Loge Boxes are going to have in-seat food and beverage service with an expanded menu that is not available in the stadium concourse. Loge Boxes cost $10,000 for 4 seats or $15,000 for 6 seats.

All of these seats are also going to have flat panel televisions available to watch the game & replays.

Why is the U of M creating a class system so that I need to spend a lot more money if I want a flat panel tv or expanded culinary choices? Shouldn't this be available to every ticketholder?

I'm so ticked off I don't know if it is worth watching the Gopher football team in the new stadium.

I agree. This is america, we should all be treated equally! Plasmas for everyone or no plasmas at all.

I agree. If Utah and Boise State can go 12-0 shouldn't we expect a similar record out of Minnesota?
 

If I can't afford season tickets the government should supply me with them. It's my right to watch Gopher football in the new stadium!

I sat by enough drunks at the Metrodome that this is going to be great. I never drank in the Metrodome and I was there to cheer on the Gophers.
The ones that seem to be having problems are people who have a drinking problem. Why do you need booze to cheer on the Gophers?

I am just as entitled to a plasma and a beer as the heavy spenders. Am I less of a man than Dave Mona? I think not. When pricked do I not bleed just like Harvey MacKay? Yes I do. Do I not put my pants on one leg at a time like Denny Hecker? I think I do. Should I not be free to be served liquor in my seat just like Tom Petters? ...Opps never mind.

You are missing the point. I attend many Gopher sports events, no beer needed to enjoy the games. However, the fact that people are pissing and moaning about the "unfairness" of the premium seatings being allowed to drink is what I can't stand. If you want some of the benefits of the premium seating, then you should have to pay the amount set. It's a perk, not something everyone is entitled to get.

I will have no issues sitting in my $275 bleacher seat.
 

You guys don't know your a*s from a hole in the ground. You have not thought the beer issue through because you are so used to people telling you what to do, and then doing it. The Gopher Stadium is a PUBLIC facility paid for with PUBLIC FUNDS. There is absolutely no basis for treating people differently on this particular issue. This is not a private club which would have much more discretion in these matters. By all accounts the NCAA recommends but cannot prevent the selling of beer in an on-campus football stadium. The fact that other universities ban beer in their stadiums should not matter. The whole idea of banning beer at sporting events where the large majority of attendees are over the age of 21 is absolutely absurd. It is a prime example of government regulation run-a-muck. Most teenagers start drinking in high school and nothing is going to stop them when they get to college. What is banning beer at a college football game going to accomplish? The answer is nothing. It is like trying to ban sex on campus. I can go to every state fair in the U.S. and drink beer until I fall over. And most of the attendees at fairs are under the age of 21. Underage drinkers are more likely to get a beer at a state fair than they are at a college football game. Why the distiction between college football games and state fairs? You guys are highly critical of NCAA policies of every kind but you are willing to give them a pass on this. There is no logic to it. You are buying the company line and it makes no sense. The NCAA and Boards of Regents only do this because the people that pay the bills allow them to get away with it. This is just another example of Big Brother trying to control peoples' lives - and succeeding. There is an important principle at stake here and very few people recognize it.

I pay taxes and if I want to watch an IMAX movie and go to the Science Museum of Minnesota I have to pay a fee, or pay for a membership. Granted it's not $3000 to $45000, but it's a fee. Fees are relative. Even though those fees are considerably cheaper, If I don't have it its the same thing.

What?? I guess you do not know your a@ss from the pie hole in your head. I believe TCF is a private entity as is Mystic lake casino as well as Best Buy. So are the thousands of people who have donated money specifically for the stadium. If you think because part of the stadium is from public money, and everyone should get beer or what ever, you are wrong. College football is a business and the University is going to compete in this business. You want beer, buy club seats or a suite. Can't afford it? Too bad. I want a BMW but drive a GMC, should I start crying?

Quick question for you....why do you suppose they are called "Club" Seats? Because that is exactly what they are....buyers are paying a premium membership to join a private club when they purchase Club Seats...literally. The IRS - by law - recognizes it as a tax-deductible membership to a private club (minus face value of ticket price). So please, before you tell us all we don't our *(@$ from a hole in the ground, get your own act together.

No, there's no important principle here. It's just a rule that most universities have, AND that the U of M already has for hockey and basketball games, that we're moving football games into conformity on.

For the record, I like to have a beer or two, and sometimes even three at the games myself. Sometimes I tailgate before the games and have more than that. But I'm not particularly bothered by the change and I really don't see why anyone gets so worked up over it.
 

I drink like a fish at gopher football games(before, during, and after)...it will be just fine with me if they take away the during...and cheaper.

On the contrary, UpNorth. You are incredibly naïve for believing that this is an issue.

No one denies that this policy is consistent with virtually every similar facility in the United States. So, why aren’t people across the country outraged? Why has this become only a “local issue,” despite that it is a policy with nearly universal application?

Let us see if you know the answer to that question … :p
