...I believe we will be watching hockey at TCF Bank Stadium. And I believe we may be adding a Dome in order to accomplish that feat.

January 2, 2012.

A dome? What's the point of playing outdoor hockey if it's underneath a dome, which I guess would be an oxymoron in and of itself.

If it happens, it will be for both. And those will only be the headliner games. Even in Pittsburgh, they had a sort of Legends game (Lemieux, etc.) and some local games.

I would expect some high profile high school games, maybe even a duluth or st. cloud game there (not just as the gophers' opponent), and obviously the gophers and wild.

I would love for this to happen next year, but I feel like it will be two. Hope I'm wrong.

I doubt they will be adding a dome to tcf stadium any time soon.

I would really hope not. I mean we just escaped an awful dome after 20+ years in order to play outdoor football on campus, so adding a dome to TCF would be about the height of idiocy in my opinion.

1) If it isn't scheduled already, it ain't happening next year. The plan was the entire "Hockey Day Minnesota," starting at 8 AM with a girl's game, boy's game, Gopher women, Gopher men, and Wild game on one day.

2) NHL and Wild say probably January, 2014.

3) No dome. Idiotic. Defeats the entire purpose of the event. Did I say idiotic?

Domes should be banned from football.

Off with OP's head!

Disagree. Yes domes should be banned from 'college football'. Yes football was meant to be played outdoors in the elements, but not in Dec and Jan in northern tier states like MN. Hockey(a winter sport) isn't even played outdoors, with a few VERY MINOR exceptions.

Will they be showing it on the giant screen? That's the only way you'll see the Wild at TCF. The Wild will get an outdoor game once the have a super star forward. Don't hold your breath...

The Gophs can't even get 8K inside Mariucci. How would they sell 50K seats for outdoor hockey?
The Rangers, Wings, Flyers and even the Avs will get a game before Minnesota.

Gophers would skate at TCF Stadium.

The Wild at Target Field.

I agree with your 'star forward comment...that's how the NHL rolls, but the Gophers would sell out TCF for sure. It would be a hockey event...all true blooded Minnesotan hockey fans would want to be there. Mariucci is sold out and there is a very long (years) waiting list for season tickets. The problem is that when the team stinks like it currently does the jerks just hold onto their tickets and don't show up.

Domes should especially be banned from pro football. Outdoor football in December and January in northern tier states like MN is the most enjoyable kind of football there is.

People who hate the cold should move far away.

I saw the subject and was thinking that one year from today, we'd still be celebrating the big Gopher upset over LSU in the Outback Bowl. I didn't want to get too fantasy-like in Kill's first year. This would be a tall order, as is.
