Where are the senior OL and RB's who are contributing? A look at the 2005 and 2006 recruiting classes shows that in 05 Mason brought in OL Sekinger (gone), Hudson (gone), Tavale, Ruckdashel and Jay Thomas and in 06 Alford, Brinkhaus and Burris along with RB's Callender (gone), Sherrer (gone) and Buckner. The only one currently getting extended PT is Alford and newbie Stommes after being on D. With the arrival of Davis and a change in system, Tavale and Burris have not seen the field after plenty of PT the past two years.

And we had no OL recruits in 2004. Zero. And the two RB recruits Russell and Alexander are long gone. One of the reasons we were forced to play young and not game ready OL & RB's Brewster's first two seasons.

In addition, close to 50% of the 04, 05 and 06 recruits left the program for various reasons which was a critical factor in the lack of depth at most positions. Coach Brewster's first two classes are sticking with the program which will help down the road.

off topic: Dear WCCO remove Dave Lee from the Gopher Men's football radio call.

I agree, Lee is the worst play-by-play man (in a league with John Gordon doing the Twins).

Re the offensive line, breaking down the Cal film I have concluded the line is not very athletic. Going downfield they have trouble getting into position to block. They also don't seem terribly aggressive (see Cal's team).

We ran the ball alright in 2003 with two true freshmen and a redshirt freshman starting on the offensive line along with a sophomore and true freshman running the ball.

Do you think Davis will change up his style and go to a cut/finesse blocking scheme instead of what he is currently implementing?

John Gordon is fine.

Brylee Callender is making a comeback. Should be starting by the time Sconnie comes to town.

True. Along with a few others such as Utecht Sr TE, Melander Jr Tackle, Joe Quinn Sr Guard, Tapeh Sr FB/TB, Hosack Sr. WR and Ellerson an emerging RFR WR all who played pro ball at some level. Of course the same with NFL-ers Esslinger, Setterstrom, Maroney and Barber. Tons of talent there. Not sure if Nicholson at guard had an NFL tryout or not.

Other than Decker, who else is pro material or possibly all Big Ten for that matter?

We need a combo of Mason's ability to run the ball and put up a lot of points and Brewster's ability to recruit.
