per the World Herald:

“I had an early offer from Stanford, but that didn’t come through,” he said. “Then I was looking at a couple of small schools in Texas when I got a call from Coach (Jerry) Kill about coming to visit Minnesota.”

It was a late call. Cobb visited two weeks after the February signing period opened.

“My mom and I came up,” he said. “Coach Kill himself showed us around. I walked. He walked. We didn’t ride in any fancy car or anything. Man, it was cold.

“But it showed he cared about me when he showed me that attention. My mom was comfortable with him. He never promised me anything other than a chance if I put in the work.”

“If you want to be the best, you have to do it against the best,” he said. “We are underestimated week in and week out as a team. We want to prove a lot of people wrong. I like being the underdog.”
