This was a really fun half to watch (except for the end of half F Up). Our OL was very dominant the entire half.
Bucky needs to find a better fitting helmet and he's not fully versed in the handing of the ball to the official. On one run he left the ball lay on the ground. JMS picked it up, handed it to the official then turned to Bucky and said something to him about it.
The Gophers ran some plays I have not seen from them this very at all or very much. One play is the counter trey play, except we pull the guard and Ko instead of a Guard and Tackle. The other was an inside Trap play where our guard and center would let the DT go and the TE (usually Ko) would come in from out wide to kick him out of the hole. Had some good success with both plays. Guessing they used these plays because of stuff they saw on film of the Colorado d-line.

Andries: 100% on 21 plays - Really did a nice job of controlling his man no matter what position on the line he played at. He was on the field more often this half that last week.
Olson: 96% on 23 plays. Was really good inside moving the pile and or shielding his man from the play
JMS: 91% on 23 plays. Ditto for him. Neither of them had a negative blocking play.
Dunlop: 86% on 14 plays His game improved again this week. Had less reps this half, which considering the altitude was a good idea. He has continually gotten better with each game.
Faalele: 81% on 21 plays - Had one negative play and a few where there just wasn't anyone to block as the play went away from him.
Schlueter: 83% on 23 plays He is a devastating down blocker. Where he gets trouble is when trying to block in space or having to reach for a guy to his inside or outside. But on down blocks he is quite good
Ruschmeyer: 200% on 1 play He mauled then buried his man on the goal line play, this the awesome percent.
Kieft: 107% on 14 plays. He is fun to watch block. Both TD's in the half he put his man on the ground. The first one he pulled and led through the hole and just destroyed the LB. The other both him and Ruschmeyer collapsed the right side, drove there man into the end zone and put them on their back.
BSF: 67 % on 6 plays He's still a little inconsistent in the run game, but has been more physical at point of attack compared to the OSU game.

We didn't throw it much the first half but the OL did a better job of picking up twists and blitzes than they did last week vs. M-OH
Andries: 78% on 9 plays
Olson: 92% on 12 plays
JMS: 58% on 12 plays His grade is low because there were plays where he had no one to block because everyone else was doing their job.
Dunlop: 50% on 6 plays He had some trouble on a power move inside of him when JMS was sliding the opposite way. His quickness isn't at the level he was at two years ago
Faalele: 80% on 10 plays - Had a good half of pass protection. On the play that Wright caught the one over the middle for a big gain, Daniel was put in a tough spot as he had a DE and LB lined up head up or outside of him. Both came and he had no help, but with a quick stiff arm to the one defender and good footwork to stay in front of the other, neither were able to get to Tanner before he release it. Quite an impressive job on that one play.
Schlueter: 50% on 12 plays Had some trouble when the DE lined up wide and got up the field.
Kieft: 100% on 2 plays
BSF: 100 % on 3 plays

A good half of football by our OL. We should have been up 20 or 24 but a couple plays went bad along with the missed FG on the one drive, then not understanding the clock situation at the half cost us too.

The second half was equally as good. Some of the OL had lower percentages, but they were still really good all game. As the game went on, the fight in the Colorado DL went away. We also had our back-ups in on the last series and they dominated the LOS as well. (didn't grade them though)

Andries: 87% on 23 plays
Olson: 83% on 24 plays.
JMS: 88% on 24 plays. Plays with an edge
Dunlop: 71% on 14 plays His game improved again this week, hoping he was dehydrated when he went out of the game in the second half rather than a concussion or other type of injury.
Faalele: 95% on 19 plays - He sometimes looks doesn't look like he is trying too hard, but when the play is over, his guy is nowhere need the tackle because Daniel sticks his arm out and the DL guy can't go anywhere but backwards or way out and around him.
Schlueter: 79% on 24 plays
Ruschmeyer: 78% on 9 play He brings it on every play.
Kieft: 94% on 16 plays. When he locks onto someone, they are pretty much done. Can see why he was given lots of praise from Coach Fleck and national writers. His replacement late in the game, Nick Kallerup, had an equally devasting block in which he drove his man 15 yards downfield. Even got a thumbs up type gesture from Blaise after the play.
BSF: 70% on 10 plays He's improving in this part of the game, but can be so much better.

We threw it even less in the second half and why would we with our OL controlling things up front.
Andries: 100% on 6 plays
Olson: 67% on 9 plays
JMS: 78% on 9 plays
Dunlop: 89% on 9 plays
Faalele: 80% on 5 plays
Schlueter: 78% on 9 plays
Kieft: 67% on 3 plays

A beat down indeed. Really looking forward to this coming week to see if we can continue to dominate the LOS and to see how well Bucko and Ky do with hopefully more extensive action.

Thanks for all the time and work. This is stuff we can't readily see live. I feel for the boys though when you dock them a little for having no one to block. Dan is like a lockdown corner who doesn't get thrown at. If the DE takes a wide birth to avoid being swallowed, Big Dan has done his job without blocking him.

I love the take What is your personal take on Andries. I believe in one series he played 3 OL positions. That has to be kind of crazy.

Indeed...his versatility at a high level along the line is pretty rare, I think. Many OLs have trouble switching sides.

Great stuff as always!! Excited to hear that Ko’s backup brought the same intensity and results!

Great for these guys draft stock. NFL loves versatile linemen.

It takes a special player to do that in one game and in his case in one series of downs. The stance is different, the steps are different the OL on either side are different but he’s able to handle it all so well no matter what.

Will our O Line take a slight step back next year as we graduate some of the seasoned veterans? Your thoughts on next year.
