Boy oh boy we need a road win. We need to find our moxie again. We are out of sorts. We need our swagger. A win at Rutgers followed by a home game can Nebraska should help.

GET ‘ER DONE PITINO!!!!!!!!!

I’ve missed the last two games due to family obligations. Would love to say I’m excited to watch this but I try not to lie.
On paper this is winnable. My heart says otherwise.
NEED this win.

We need our defense to be near perfect (like Michigan home game) as Rutgers has many weapons and are playing better of late. I would have rather played them earlier when they were going through their own issues.

After winning 3 in a row, Rutgers currently is 6-6 in conference play. They have identical 3-3 conference records at home and on the road so, unlike the Gophers, home court hasn't provided a great edge in conference so far. It must be said that the three home losses were to upper echelon conference teams (Iowa, OSU, and Wisconsin). They did beat Illinois at home.

It may seem that the Gophers have been in such a funk that there is little reason for optimism about the near future. However, there is a precedent for a Pitino team rebounding after being in a deep funk. Pitino's best team (2017) lost five in a row during late January before winning 8 in a row after that. Of course, that team had a more solid top 7 rotation than this one and I can't see this team doing as well as that. Still, it's not impossible that they could put together a successful enough streak to finish above .500 in the conference.

Its no secret the Gophers have to shoot the ball well in order to be in a position to win. That has been the problem. Maybe tonight will be different ala "even a blind squirrel can find a nut."

Hot off the wire: Phil Sellers, Bob Lloyd, and James Bailey will not be shooting jumpers tonight at the RAC. Also hearing Dicky Vitale will not be an assistant coach for the Scarlet Knights (asst. 71-72').

However, until the Gophers can show any competency on the road they still go down 74-68.

MN feels like the easiest team to bet in the country right now. We play well we win so take the +160 ML, when we play poor we get our doors absolutely blown off so you take the Alt line of Rutgers -15 at +200. Either way you win $$. I really see no way this is a close loss. We either snap out and win or just get blasted. Based on the past road results...likely a night we need to find a new show to watch at 9.

This game feels huge in the aspect of a team that needs psychologically to get past the " they can't win on the road " mentality. I'm hopeful but as a Homer that's every game. Go Gophers !

Really looking forward to avoiding this toxic thread once the ball tips off.

Just continue to fight Gophers. My God if you hit a cold stretch with 28 minutes left in the game don't panic and start jacking 3s. Play defense, box the F out, get rebounds, draw fouls, make free throws. Play open gym ball on your own time.

And maybe either Gabe or Both can break out of their shooting slumps

I was thinking the exact same thing. I might be wrong, but I see this team turning around at some point, and tonight would be a great time for it. Not an easy task, though; Rutgers is legit top 25.

Surprised Kenpom has this a close Rutgers win. I would not bet against Kenpom- sportsbook odds are based in great part by KP research. Current line is 5.5 and o/u 140.

The smart money bet is: tease the Gophers/over making it -9.5/O 136

Biggest game of the year so far.
A loss doesn’t put you out of the tourney, a loss does put you at 4-7 and essentially means you’re going to finish bottom half of the conference.

With this weak minded bunch and coach, I think it does. Lose this one and the wheels fall off and it's over.
Sorry, just the way I feel.

That said, we come out and play our butts off and win this one by 9. Back on track. Let's go.

Wow, nice fan support.....

Geo Baker went to high school in 1999. Dude has been around forever.

I have a new excitement for this game now that Gus Johnson is calling it. It will go down to the wire.

The fuck is this camera angle? I’m drinking wine. Is it me? Seems horrible.

I see we carried over our marginal D and rebounding skills from the previous game.

Two turnovers on post feeds. I don’t think the ball has been on the left side of the court while on offense.

Gabe shooting 20% on 3s so shoots from 2ft
Beyond NBA range. Perfect.

0-3 with 3 TOs......not good start

Strategy for tonight.....Hack-a-Miles.....40% FT shooter
