Off campus housing of student athletes

Didn't Jerry Kill at the beginning of his tenure at the U bring Rashede Hageman and others (who weren't dismissed from the team) back to college dorms?

Maybe it is time to consider housing for college athletes on campus where there is more oversight.

Alcohol and drinking parties can be a harbinger for a night full of regrets the next morning.

These are young adults who are vulnerable to make bad decisions that can alter the trajectory of their lives like in the current case.

This is a tragedy with kids full of promise whose lives are forever tainted. The consequences of their actions in one night affected all including the young woman and all of their families.

What a crying shame.

Couldn't the same thing be said about all college students by simply changing the bolded word?

Oh yes, that will be a real bonus for recruiting. "You will be living in a tiny dorm room for your entire tenure here." Sounds REAL enticing...

I recall Rashede was told he had to move out of a house that was known to be a problem. I don't know if that was a blanket rule.

That's not a half-bad idea. A locked dormitory for the athletes would allow more control over their comings and goings. Coeds who desired to make conjugal visits could be fully vetted - tested, de-loused and waived against future sexual abuse charges. The school administration could create an Office of Overseer. This idea has legs!

"
How about earn your way out of the dorm by proving yourself. Like Jerry said, "I hear what you say and trust what you do".
