Is the Obama rally going to be the same time as the football game?

That wouldn't be good.

I'm curious how it's going to work also. I tailgate on the West Bank and we usually walk through Northrup Mall to get to the stadium. Will this even be possible on Saturday or will they have the mall sealed off for Obama?

It will be interesting to see how they handle the parking situation. Would they close off some parking lots and ramps near the Northrop Mall and force football ticket holders with parking passes for those lots to park in St. Paul and take the bus? Add park and ride buses from area shopping malls like they do for the State Fair?

I believe the rally is going to be held on the Northrop Mall, rather than in Northrop Auditorium, in which case the attendance will not be limited to the capacity of the Auditorium.

That is what I thought I heard as well. That could make things more interesting.

I think the parking situation will be fine for the fb fans....for those coming to the rally its gonna suck. For those of us who tailgate on the west bank, it might be interesting getting back to our cars postgame however....I'm guessing that Washington by the mall will be closed off, and people will either have to take the shuttle back, or walk all the way down by Moos Tower/ the river. Coffman to get across the Washington Ave bridge, or people will have to go out University to the 10th street bridge

We usually cut through the mall on the way back to West Bank, but it isn't like taking Washington is out of the way....it's just not the picturesque route. As for pregame, even though we'll be going through campus a good 2½ hours before the rally, I wouldn't be surprised if they've already blocked things off around the mall.

According to the facebook event page for the rally, the doors for the Rally are opening at 12:30, and Obama is expected to speak about 3 or so.

We might be ok heading over, but definitely will be screwed coming back.....
