UST (1-2) drops 10 spots to #153 after Monday night's 81-71 loss to Washington State in Pullman. The Tommies fell behind 10-0 right out of the gate and were never really in the game, trailing 50-30 at the half. The Cougars (1-2) dominated the glass 32-19, leading to a 16-3 advantage in second-chance points.

Redshirt freshman Nick Janowski led the Tommies with 22 points, including 5-of-8 from the 3-point arc. Sophomore Nolan Minessale hit the 20-point mark for the third straight game, adding 6 assists. Tomas Thrastarson paced three Wazzu players in double figures with 19 points, 7 rebounds, and 4-of-7 sniping from trey land.

MONDAY EYE-OPENERS
Santa Clara 87, Xavier 68: The Broncos traveled to Cincinnati and put a beat-down on Richard Pitino's Musketeers. Elijah Mahi (18 points, 3 assists) and Christian Hammond (15 points, 3 rebounds) paced five SCU scorers in double figures. The Broncos (3-0) already own a pair of wins (McNeese, Xavier) over 2025 NCAA Tournament qualifiers.

Wazzu 81, Tommies 71: UST losing to Wazzu didn't necessarily surprise me but getting run out of the gym for the second time this season does. The outcome was never really in doubt, but the Toms did play a lot better in the second 20 minutes. Going forward they'll need redshirt junior sharpshooter Carter Bjerke to get going from the 3-point arc. Bjerke is 4-of-18 (22.2%) for the season after shooting over 40% from 3 in each of his first two seasons. Color me not concerned; he'll find his stroke.

DEEP THOUGHTS, BY BUZZ STUDLEY
Once again tonight we have ridiculously stupid time-of-game spacing by ESPN with its Kentucky-Louisville & Creighton-Gonzaga doubleheader. Kentucky-Louisville starts at 7 p.m. with Creighton-Zags scheduled at 9. Nearly all televised college basketball games take more than two hours, usually between 2:10 to 2:30. Is it really going to kill networks to schedule games 2.5 hours apart? Too many games are joined in progress, forcing folks wanting to watch the second game to another channel/stream (they may not have).

Shooting bricks right now and getting killed on the glass… small team they need everyone on the glass… they will get better…

Yep, they’ll improve as we go. Need to get Bjerke making some 3s, but that too will come.

Johnson-Arigu has a chance to be a really good player but not a guy I want shooting many 3s right now. Wondering if JT will tinker with the lineup a bit (insert Herro and/or Johnson-Arigu) or ride current starting 5 out a bit.
