Not a good start for Nebraska

And Miles can coach. I thought he'd be a good fit at the U, but he definitely would not bring the excitement that Rich brings. NE will be pretty tough this year.

Nebraska is going to be horrible this year. Where are you guys seeing this improvement? Yes, I know about Webster but he can't offset their losses in his first year by himself.

Friday's game with Florida Gulf Coast will be interesting without Gallegos. I certainly hate to admit this, but I think the Huskers will be greatly improved. Freshman point guard Tai Webster from Australia is going to be very good.

That was going to be an interesting game even with Gallegos.

I can still remember Gallegos pumping in 30 some points against the Gophers last year. He was on fire. Good thing he was all they had as we still won by 20 points.

The excitement in Husker basketball before and after Miles is night and day. He's not the sexy name, but he could definitely bring the excitement.

I am so happy the Gophers didn't get Timmer. What has the guy really won? A couple conference championships at Southwest and NDSU? He is best known for beating the Badgers when he was at NDSU. Then at Colorado St, he didn't even win a conference championship. You look at his staff he currently has and no one is a big time recruiter, which is what you need at the Big Ten level. I give him 3 more years and Nebraska will be looking for someone else again when the best Timmer can do is a middle of the pack finish in the Big Ten and a NIT birth.

Tim Miles is the basketball version of Jerry Kill. Has never been the sexy hire, but wins everywhere he goes. They build programs.

And that's why he was a better hire for Nebraska than Minnesota. You hire guys like Mase and Jerry and Miles to rebuild garbage programs. I hope Jerry will be able to go beyond what Mase was able to accomplish, but I still put him in a similar category. Once you have a solid program established, you need to look at a guy who can take them to the next level. I think it's a different type of hire that's necessary in those circumstances.

You say he wins but what has he really won? A couple of conference championships and a regional championship in D2? Thats not a lot of "winning" that programs looking to make a big step want.

Totally agree with last Jmag21, he will build this up to .500 but to take the next step he is not the one to do it.

Well, there goes the future of Tim Miles. :banghead:
