Some of Norwood Teague's comments on today's Sports Huddle:
1) On his fist week on the job: In a listening mode: "Listening and trying not to be in a hurry." He referenced past experiences when he rushed into issues before listening. "First month and a half I'll be spending time listening.
2) He talked briefly about David Benedict, the new assistant AD that he hired and worked with at VCU. He's known him for several years. Benedict is a Phoenix, AZ native and was a very good fund raiser when he was at Arizona State University. "(Benedict) My number 2 guy at VCU."
3) Text message about modern ADs facing the social media: "We're all still figuring it out . . . have to manage and participate in it. I enjoy it (social media)."
4) Sid asked about discussions related to Tubby Smith's contract: "Sat down Friday . . . finishing up details." He also said, "Good time together talking about the coming year." And his (Tubby's) contract, "Should be done within days."
5) Basketball facility: "We discussed it and it's a top priority." Sid followed up saying he talked to the U President about sports facilities: Norwood Teague said they're going to develop a master plan related to sports facilities at the U and that an outside consultant/specialist will be brought in to to assist in developing the master plan, "We need to get our arms around a plan."
