One of the many reasons why I love sports.

Northwestern's James Montgomery was a walk-on for two years who just received a scholarship. This shows it getting announced by coach Collins and the reaction of his family when he tells him the good news. This never gets old.

That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. Congrats to James!

This brings to mind, do we not have any scholarships unused this year? Since scholarships are only a one year contract, so to say, couldn't we give one to Shell?

I thought I had heard that this would indeed happen, but I am about as plugged in as an amish telephone. So take this with a grain of salt.

Great stuff, these kinds of things kinda remind you about what college sports can bring to the table. Kid just works hard, does his job, and to see him rewarded like that, especially at Northwestern where you know it's pricy, is awesome.

Good stuff right here. I think he is a mechanical engineering major also. Awesome work ethic.

Good for him ... and nice little PR/recruiting use of this moment by Collins and Northwestern (which obviously arranged the videotaping, captioning, etc.). Notice the logo at the end -- "NU Sports. Chicago's Big Ten Team."

Yeah, I too wonder what's going to happen with that 13th scholarship. Are we waiting to see if a transfer unexpectedly becomes available? (prly wouldn't be able to play this year though) Will Shell get it? Or will we just not use it this year?
