Not the men's side, but interesting to see a precedence set in a team forfeiting make up games from the wild fires. It moves NW to 2-15 and likely there will be tiebreakers needed to make the B1G tournament.

Saving $$ to not travel back to LA to get killed by top 5 teams. Wonder if it would be allowed on the Men's side.

If the home team canceled the game due to an active catastrophe, why does the away team have to forfeit?
Assume because they found a workable makeup date but Northwestern apparently doesn't want to play.

USC and UCLA didn't cancel the games; Northwestern just decided not to travel out there. USC and UCLA played games against Penn State that same week.

Hilarious. Chalk up another unintended consequence of the silly West Coast expansion

For sure. A coast-to-coast league is a costly proposition. This strains the benefit-cost consideration of making long trips. This is why conferences have traditionally been geographic. Even if there's money to do all this, there's an environmental and scholastic cost.

Why are you a D1 coach or athlete or administrator if you can’t bother to travel to your scheduled games, even if they are makeups? USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington have a significantly heavier travel burden to bear than the Midwest teams, and while there’s been some bitching about it, they’ve gotten on airplanes and traveled cross-country multiple times and answered the bell every time when it rang. This is a bad look for Northwestern.
