I know that a lot of posters think there is no way this is going to happen but Northwestern has about as easy as a schedule as you can get. PSU is down and that leaves only 1 really tought game on the road (Wisconsin). It's not so much that Northwestern is a great team as it is about timing. I think they will imporve during the course of the year more than any other Big Ten team. I think Northwestern will be playing for the National championship this year.

Their level of play will have to improve significantly over the past game. I think they will be a 2-3 loss team.

Northwestern doesn't have the horses on D to do that. They also don't have a running game. Fitzgerald is a great coach but even he won't be able to get this team through the year with less than 2-3 losses.

Nominee for preposterous statement of the year. NU cannot run the ball. Their running backs are terrible, and they will loose some games along the way because of that alone. Unless they decide to run Persa 40 times a game.

yea and mtsu may be good with dasher.

stop it people. we are a bad football team and we haven't been beaten by a great one yet.

It worked out well for Northwestern to hire a linebacker coach slash recruiting corrdinator as their head coach. It just did not work out so well for us.

Apples to oranges. Fitz is an NU alum that was (and still is) a young, up and coming coach. Brewster (not a U alum) is a middle aged medicore position coach that has been passed over many times for promotions because of terrible football IQ....

I get/agree why you can't compare Brew to Fitz....

but how do you know either of these statements to be true? C'mon man, don't just make stuff up to try to validate your point.

There's no way NW can go undefeated. They have a terrible fan base, and they play in Chicago where they have to compete with the Bears. These are insurmountable obsticles and cannot be overcome.:cool02:

Brew's problem is that he simply isn't a good head coach. It had nothing to do with his age or alma mater. The fact is that he had a more establishes resume (at the time we hired him) than Fitz when they both took their respective positions.

A week after beating our Gophers, NU's dreams of an undefeated season come crashing down with a loss to Purdue.

Go Gophers!!

Just walked in the house and the channel was still set at the Big 10 Network from where I left it this afternoon and saw the last couple of plays. Fitzgerald is a good coach, but Northwestern doesn't have that good a team. It's Persa and nobody else. They still beat us and they may pull one or two more out, but they are a middle-range Big 10 team.
