Now I am looking far, far ahead on the ole calendar here, but I would like to gauge some interest on a holer gathering for the Northwestern game on November 19. I'm sure many of us Chicago alumni would love to see a Gopher gathering in Evanston. Us younger alums could then go out and rage on the the town afterwards. The tickets should be easy enough to come by and we can teach those nerds how to tailgate the real way.
It would be nice to get the Goal Line Club and Students involved as well, like they have their barnyard road trip.

I'll bump this thread when it comes closer to the date, just figured I'd toss it out there for those with busy schedules.

Edit: We should be 10-0 at that point too. ;)

The GLC usually does a big tailgate at the Peter Jans Golf Course right off the Central Street Purple Line station.

Me and two friends are planning to go down there that weekend. Definitely looking for a good tailgate.

otherwise I think you could get a spot in the lot by Mustards but I only recall NU folks there.

We have 4 going and plan on hitting the town afterward. Would pray for a 2:30 start that game, but I will not hold my breath. Either way, we will be consuming heavy and having a blast. What would you suggest for tickets? Just buy them from N'western, or try to get into the Gopher section from the U? Can you move around in the stadium to sit next to Gopher folks you see or are the ushers kind of anal about that? It appears on TV that you can buy a ticket and sit just about anywhere. But I might be wrong about that one.

Buy tickets on StubHub if you care about prices. There are a whole ton of tickets for $30 and under right now.

You can move around, there's nobody checking for your ticket once you're inside.

Especially on the visitor side. Just be aware it is a VERY late arriving crowd and you may have to move if someone comes.

Great idea to get folks together, but it's awful hard to beat the FREE parking lots they have a couple blocks from the stadium that include a bus to bring you to and from the game, also FREE. Gotta love Northwestern!

Where are these lots specifically? Definitely looking to head down to NW from Madison this year.

A group of my friends and other Greek Alums are heading down from various areas around the Midwest to come for this game and once we have more details planned out I'll keep GH posted. We're all in our Mid-20's so there will be a good amount of boozing to be had.

Yea Buddy!

I will be visiting my brother at Loyola just down the shoreline, and we are planning on hitting up the game. Would definitely love to see some fellow Gophers for some pre-game tailgating!

I will be there with at least two others so a lot full of Gopher fans would be awesome.

I'll be making my way to Chicago, too. I'll be with some other ex-bandos who live in Chicago. Should be a fun time!

5 of my buddies and I are heading to the game. We would love to stop by a Gopher tailgate if someone is setting one up.

Looking at their parking maps, there's a lot of free lots. I'll figure something out and keep y'all posted. I don't really want to tailgate by the older people, because my group is going to be going hard.

Agreed, my buddies and I are all in college and would like to do the same.

My wife and I will be flying down and staying with my brother who lives by Wrigley. We just plan to take the train up to the game. If someone is putting together a tailgate we would be willing to pitch in some money for some grub and bring our own beverages. Otherwise we were just going to look for a bar to hit up before the game.

Also we just got our tickets through the U. They were $55 each but I figured this way we would be with the other Gopher fans.

I'll be there for the first time this year with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law. I'll check back to see where the majority of people are tailgating. We're fortunate to have a family member who has a condo downtown for us to stay in but will be "up and at them" early for tailgating. Any places people go after the game?

Excited to add the B1G stadiums I've been at to 4 (5 if you include Metrodome...).

Our group is going to be hitting the GLC tailgate. I've never been to one at Northwestern but they've always been quality when I've attended in the past.

The Chicago Gophers, Chicago's UMAA group, are planning a tailgate there. I'm not sure where yet, I'll look into it.

RV Parking

Do any of you know where there might be RV parking around the stadium? A group of us will be coming in Friday night. Thanks for any help given!

I will probably be taking the trip by myself and it would be great to tailgate with a bunch of others. I'm in my mid 20's and will definitely pitch in for food if I find a group and I will bring my own booze. Are most of you guys staying near Evanstown or downtown Chicago because I'm looking for hotel room and would like to hang out with some fan before and after the game?

Our group of 6 to 8 Gopher fans will be there. We've gone the last two times the Gophers have played in Evanston and had a great time on both occasions. We've parked in the same free lot both times and had a good experience. It's usually about 1/2 full of tailgaters representing both sides, 1/4 full of Northwestern students going to class that morning and 1/4 empty. I'll need to do a bit more research to recall exactly where it is... will post later in this thread once identified.

Our group (mid-to-late 20s) will be showing up with plenty of beer and a hankering for some games and some Gopher company, so I'll be eager to hear where people would like to meet up.

^ Definitely let us know about lots. Although I'm from the and Chicagoland area, I've never been to Northwestern (because really, who cares?).

My group is still debating what to do. We're probably going to stay at my house Friday night then go to the game and stay downtown on Saturday. Gotsta work it out still.

I looked around on Google street view for a while and then compared it to what was on the map posted earlier in this thread. The lot we normally park in - and we'll almost surely park in again - is labeled No. 3, Tech. It's a free lot on the corner of Noyes and Sheridan. I think there's a shuttle from there to Ryan Field, but we typically walk to the stadium (20 minutes or so) and try to pick up tickets from scalpers on the way. Usually can scoop one up for $15 and just walk over by the Gopher section to sit once inside.

So, if people are interested, we'll be holding it down for the Gophers over there before the game.

Well my hotel room is booked I'm staying at the Extended stay in Skokie, and bought my ticket for the game! This will be my first away game and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope I can meet some of you before the game seeing as I am traveling alone for the weekend. If anyone has plans for Friday night or knows of anything going on that night let me know!

I was just wondering if they are holding a Sota Social the night before the game, does anyone know?
