per Kellen:
Marcus Carr, Minnesota, PG
Arguably one of the most exciting point guards in the NCAA, the Toronto-born guard developed into a true star during his second year with the Golden Gophers. After starting his collegiate career with Pittsburgh, Carr averaged 15.4 points per game last year in his debut season for Minnesota.
Now a junior, the point guard has taken his game to new heights, currently averaging 20.6 points and 5.5 assists per game. Most notably, Carr has a 30- point performance on his track record this season that helped propel Minnesota to a 102-95 win over Iowa, the current No. 4 team in the country.
However, while his playmaking skills should rightfully be praised, what has actually impressed Winick the most this season is Carr’s development as a true floor general.
“Minnesota essentially handed him the keys, and with that trust, he has rewarded head coach Richard Pitino by becoming a true leader on this team first and foremost,” said Winick. “The stats come after, but for me, the intangibles, the leadership is what really stands out about Marcus Carr.”
