Normally the team flys back to MN after a road game but I think a bowl game can be
different. Because it is a break between semesters, the U can give tickets to a player to his home town. Am I right?

If so does the ticketing also include flying back to Mpls when school starts?

I remember at one of our previous bowl games I met two of our players at the airport flying directly home after the game.

Players are given a set amount of travel money based on where they live and I am pretty sure the amount is fixed regardless of what means the player would choose to travel. In other words I think they are alloted enough to travel by plane but if they choose to go a different route they can pocket the difference, but I could be wrong on that. After the bowl game many players and coaches will not fly back to MN on the team charter but rather will head straight home for the remainder of the holiday break.

I don't know if they can pocket the difference, but you are correct that the players can go home, not necessarily to MN, after the game. It is then up to them, however, to get back to campus after the break.

Nope. The entire team flies back to Minnesota on the charter, right after the game. No exceptions. No mischief.

As long as the parents bring a signed note that the parents will take the kid home, and personally hand it to Coach Kill, that player is excused from returning with the team. Otherwise, his parents must pick him up at MSP airport. Sounds like it, from things I have read on this thread.

Interesting. Kill's rule? That wasn't the case previously.

A real, thoughtful coach would think of this.

You are correct.

That is the case during the season for road games. Has always been different for bowl trips under other coaches but I have no first hand knowledge of how Kill is handling the bowl travel. I would be very surprised if he would force players from out of state to travel back to MN in order to fly somewhere else when the NCAA permits them to travel directly home but again I have no knowledge of how Kill runs things in this regard. It certainly was not that way under previous coaching staffs.

I can't speak for Kill....never went to a bowl game when he was the coach (lol).

Players are from all over the country; if you play a game in Florida or Texas you don't make a player travel back to Minnesota just to travel back to Florida or Texas....during the Holiday season no less when they are trying to get home and have no reason to come back to Minnesota (classes are out).
