Well, if you rewind to the days following Devoe's transfer, we all pretty much acknowledged that an injury to Nolen would be a disaster, still tough to watch though as that plays out now. Here's hoping the team can rally and still make the tourney (obviously the Ill game is paramount).

I'm totally amazed at the lofty predictions on this board after Al went down.

Ralph and Colt-this is as good as they are going to get.
Rodney-will not get close to where everyone expected.
Trevor-hope he stays
None of our freshmen are program changers.
Next year-freshmen and sophomore guards.

Sorry for being negative.

I think Armelin has the potential to be a damn good player down the road, not sure what you meant by program changer though.

This is way more true than anyone is going to want to admit however.

no need to be sorry.

Tubby has not recruited 1 program changer since he has been here. and if someone wants to point out Royce White he never played 1 minute for this University.

Some one like Bobby Jackson or Willie Burton. Someone that is first string All Big Ten.

Andre Hollins???????....maybe?

Well to be fair Tubby really has "changed the program" so it's hard to throw him completely under the bus here. He definitely hasn't taken the steps necessary to take that next step though.

Listening to the post-game show on cco and some negative comments on Tubby. Probably only the second time I've listened to it this year but it is the most negative commets I've heard.

Amen. With his resume I was hoping for some impact freshmen like OSU seems to get every year. At least someone who has a reliable jump shot.

Tubby and recruiting

Tubby was ripped on at Kentucky for his relative subpar recruiting, and more for not turning the few mcdonald's all americans he got into great players. It is much harder at Minnesota to recruit than Kentucky obviously. Until we turn a corner as a team as a lock top 20 team, and a team who can advance at the dance every year, we won't get any McDonalds all americans-- unless they are "home grown".

That being said, I am excited to have Tubby over almost any other option we could get.

Tubby has upgraded the recruiting here. A big plus. However, he has failed to recruit shooters. The only players we had at the beginning of the season that could shoot were Hoff and Joseph. Hoff was a Monson recruit. Tubby like athletes. He loves defensive players. He better start looking at soe offensive players that can shoot the ball and play pg. College basketball is a 2 or 3 guard lineup sport now. If teams don't respect the outside in college you are at a big disadvantage in the game. Even with a good front court.

In 8 years at UK, Rick Pitino signed only 4 classes that were ranked Top 20 or better, including only 5 McDonalds A-A recruits. He won 1 NCAA title, 2 SEC titles, and 5 SECT championships. He averaged 27 W per season. His McD A-A include Jamal Mashburn, Tony Delk, Antoine Walker, and Ron Mercer.

In 10 years at UK, Tubby signed 7 classes that were ranked Top 20 or better, including 7 McDonalds A-A recruits. He won 1 NCAA title, 5 SEC titles, and 5 SECT championships. He averaged 26 W per season. Included among his McDonalds A-A are Tay Prince, Keith Bogans, and Rajon Rondo.

UK fans idolize Pitino and (many, not all or even most) revile Tubby. Their UK careers were similar (not identical) in results and recruiting.

They also give Tubby's 1 ncaa championship credit to that they were Patino's players. Not that I buy that.

Tubby has tried to recruit good shooters: we lost out on Jesperson and a couple others.
