NO NIT for Gophers

I find it unbelievable that we did not receive a low seed for this tournament.

We lost 9 of our last 10 games and scored more than 65 points in one of those 10 games. We didn't deserve to make the NIT.

I am kind of happy the team is not getting the chance to lose yet another game at Williams Arena. A road NIT game would have been fine with, but I agree with FOT in that I don't think this team was winning another game this year period.

I would argue that wins over UNC, Purdue, and WV should have fetched us a low seed in the NIT.

Well since we're on a losing streak and the team's psyche is shot, the NIT just would've likely meant another loss to chalk up. In a normal season, I'd be more upset, but with this team, it's probably good to put this thing to rest and get ready for next season.

Not sure that this is a bad thing. Truly no reason to believe that we would have performed well in the NIT anyway. On to next year.

I will eat my crow on this. I thought there was no way they missed it. Though I will say if Nolen would have played in the NU game I think they make the NIT even with a loss. Simply can't justify putting a 1-11 team in the NIT on the assumption that a guy with a broken foot from a top 15 team is going to heal up in a week I guess.

It is best to let this season be buried now.

Over with, think ahead to next year.

This is merciful from my viewpoint. Tubby needs to think about changes to make this team better next year. There are coaching issues, especially on the offense.

Does anybody know for sure if the CBI and CIT are out?

I was kind of hoping we could somehow make it to 20 wins this year. Wouldn't be much, but it would be something.

Tweet from Marcus:

"I just got a text from a Gophers team spokesman. I asked if what happens with no NIT bid. He said, "the season is over."

Go Gophers!!

Looking at the records of everyone in that tournament the Gophers didn't deserve to get in at 17-14. Would have been nice to have one more home game though.

Two words: Mercy Killing.

With apologies to anyone going through a situation that is real life, this season was on life support. The season was a vegetable. The plug is pulled.

Go Gophers! (next year, thankfully)

Looking back, the season was over when Al dinged his ankle. I never thought I would say this, but I am glad its over.

I find it unbelievable that we did not receive a low seed for this tournament.

Which team do you suggest they leave out of the field to include us? As you break the bracket down and take away the automatic qualifiers (14 of them this year; almost twice as many as last year), you are down to only 18 at-large spots. Sad as it is to say, I'm not sure we're even one of the first four out of the NIT.

Could make the argument that schools like Marshall (RPI - 54), Southern Miss (63), Iona (68), Valpo (71), Charleston (73) and Drexel (74) -- who were all left out of the NIT -- deserved to get in before Minnesota (RPI -85).

Tubby was laying it on the players, I think it is time to start laying it on Tubby. This is the worst case of player development I have ever seen in my years of watching Gopher Basketball. This team even without Nolen had decent talent, not great but average, they performed well under their talent level though. Maybe Shama is right, no contract extension.

Losing 10 of your last 11, and having a fanbase that travels poorly is why they didn't deserve to get in. Lets hope next year we dont lose 3 starters.
