Jim Jackson said that, after NW went on the run to take the lead and the players broke the huddle on a timeout, everyone looked like we lost the game already. Pretty telling to me that the guys have no confidence and no one wants to step up. Where's the leadership from the upperclassmen? I just don't see it.

Blake is a lot of things, but he isn't much of a leader. Nolen was that guy.

They need a coach with some leadership they don't hustle, fundamentals suck, look like they are lost dumb and dumber got beat my a bunch of skinny little smart kids that knew what they were doing

Tubby deserves blame but hustle is not one of them. I think that's on the players.

They tried. But they have no leadership, no confidence, no offensive flow and no shooters. Awful, awful shooting team.

The coaching staff is defeated before the game even is decided. Look at them on the bench. The players are a direct reflection of the coaches.

This honestly cannot be under emphasized. We have NO ONE with a pull up jumpshot, and ONE capable of consistently making a three.

Maybe, but almost every game lately we've had the lead most of the game. It's in the last 5 minutes or so when no one steps up. We're in the position to win the game but just can't do it. No "killer instinct".

And that wont come up at all in Tubby's post game comments. He will focus on a defensive breakdown, as usual. Scoring 57 points is a problem.

It should be the seniors on the team - one is injured and the other was just brutal tonight.

The players definitely quit in the second half. I don't remember Blake ever being that frustrated. His body language and decision making said a lot. I'd be pretty pissed off getting destroyed that frequently off the ball but I thought eventually he'd get things going. If only Trevor could spread some of his consistency to the rest of the team...

If you want me to now rip Tubby for recruiting, I am not going to do it. If he had Devoe and Nolen, this season would've turned out much differently.

Thats the thing about Tubby teams

You find yourself saying "if" a lot

The "leader" of the team told them their season was done in after losing to Michigan. What else could have been expected tonight?

nicely put!!!!!!!

Could we get a show of hands from people other than Nugget that are Kentucky fans?

Your time is coming Nugget. The situation with Calipari will not end well, it never has. Enjoy it while it lasts I guess but please spare your comments.

The second half of the season was just a perfect storm. Once Joseph left, Al was hurt, Mo was hurt, we were doomed, doomed, doomed I tell you, doomed.

For whatever reason every single flaw of this team has been revealed and capitalized on. From the players to the coaches. Even I have to say it - it can't end soon enough for me.

Yup. I can't believe he said that to the press,

Agree 100% in the lack of leadership on this team. I think the leader was Nolen, although I didn't think he was that much fo a leader. We miss having a FIRE THE TEAM UP guy on the team. Someone who will not allow his teammate to get down on themselves or the game.

I don't think Hoff is wired to be a leader, or if he is, his teammates never seemed to buy into him. To me it is sad for him (and Nolen of course) to go out this way.

BS. The leadership, motivation and talent are all a result of the coach. This is all on Tubby. Who will he blame. Failure at it's finest. Time for a new coach.

Been following Gopher BB since the mid 60s. This is much like the Monson years.

Northwestern is one of the worst BT teams I have ever seen and WE LOST.

amongst the upper classmen, only Nolen could lead, and he wasn't on the floor. Next year will require one of this year's frosh to lead, so keep playing them to get them going. This years JR's will not be floor leaders next year, that would've been Devoe. RS3? Colt? Trev? No. Rodney? Get real.

I'm sorry but if players can't get pumped and motivated enough for games that could make or break this season, then there's something wrong with their attitudes. This isn't 7th grade basketball.

It's not like we're coming out flat and getting way behind right away in these games. We're usually winning most of the way until crunch time. That's when the players need to step up. It's not like the opposition is all of a sudden running completely different offenses and defenses in the last 5 minutes or so of the game.

I'm not saying Tubby doesn't deserve blame, but to say it's all on him is ridiculous to me.

The coach has to instill the confidence in his players, I'm not sure Tubby is that great at that. I couldn't play for him, getting yanked every time you make a mistake is crazy. Quitting like they did has nothing to do with the coach. That is all on the players. I don't care what the coach said it shouldn't, I don't understand how it could, impact your effort.
