NMSU's starting QB to transfer

Here is the press release:

Redshirt junior quarterback Andrew Manley has been granted his release to transfer by head coach Doug Martin.

“We wish Andrew all the best,” Martin said. “Obviously with all the changes in the offensive system he didn’t fit in as well the way he may have in the past. The competition at quarterback was going to be tougher for him this season, as well as some of the family matters he has, he wanted to get closer to home. We support Andrew and his decision.”

Manley was a member of the NM State football team from 2010-12. In 2012, Manley started at quarterback for the Aggies in all 12 games in 2012. On the season, Manley threw for 2,764 yards and 18 touchdown passes, connecting on 53.9 percent of his passing attempts. He averaged 230.3 yards passing per game and 214.2 yards of total offense a contest. Manley also rushed for two scores on the year. His passing yards per game ranked fourth in the WAC and 47th in the nation. Manley also recorded two 300-yard passing games and eight games with over 200 yards passing. He now has 13 games during his career with over 200 yards passing which ranks him third all-time. His 2,764 passing yards ranks sixth all-time for a single season, while his 18 touchdown passes rank tied for seventh in a single season.

Go Gophers!!

I remember him torching us two years ago. More and more NMSU looks like a guaranteed win. Based on last year's stats they are not good at stopping the run. I bet we run for 250 - 300 yards as a team and win a 38 - 10 type game.

Hageman will have 9 sacks, bat down 15 passes and return two fumbles for TDs as the Gophers win 77-2 (Botched punt snap results in safety, special teams still need work.).

I will count on you to save that Predict the Score for this fall when we start it up again. :)

HAHA! I just burst out laughing at work reading this! Boss sure gave me a strange look! Nicely done! :)

Not that it really matters but does anyone know if Manley was the starting QB in spring practice? If so, did he take the majority of snaps with the 1st string? If the other QB's didn't get much playing time during Spring ball, they will likely be hurting their first few games.

The schedule couldn't be better for us in terms of when we get NMSU. TX is going to steamroll them in the first game and NMSU will still be licking their wounds when we get to town. We'll be coming off nine days rest compared to their seven in week 2 which only helps our cause. My guess is that NMSU won't put up much of a fight and instead will be looking forward to week 3 when they will play UTEP which should be a much easier task for them.

Sorry that this is slightly off topic, but do we know what channel is going to pick this game up? That UNLV game being on CBS sports or whatever sucked.
