Here are 5 things the Dallas Morning News says you "need to know" about NMSU.

http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews...things-you-need-to-know-about-the-aggies.html

1. Head coach Doug Martin has experience: Often at mid-major FBS programs, the head coach is young with little experience. This is not the case at New Mexico State.

Doug Martin is the Aggies new head man, and he’s been around for a while. Martin served as the head coach at Kent State from 2002-2010 and worked at Boston College the past two seasons as its offensive coordinator...

2. Starting QB has thrown one college pass:..

3. Top WR is ineligible to play:..

4. The Aggies’ punter can boom it: It’s not often a punter will be profiled in a team preview, but New Mexico senior Cayle Chapman-Brown is one of the best in the country. The Australian averaged 44.3 yards a punt in 70 attempts last season. He’s sure to test Texas punt returners Quandre Diggs and Daje Johnson...

5. The Aggies offense and defense are a mystery: With a new coaching staff comes new philosophies, and New Mexico State will feature quite a few changes to display against Texas.

With a new head coach, offensive coordinator and a second-year defensive coordinator for the Aggies, the Longhorn players and coaching staff are expecting the unexpected from New Mexico State.

[We] don’t know what to expect really,” said running back Malcolm Brown. “They have a new style. Anything can change. I mean, other than that, we’re going to have to watch and see”

Our Offense should put up 35 no problem against the Aggies...

I'd like our defense to give up less than 20 points too

I think it's possible... we didn't have tape on UNLV's new Offense but the coaches get to watch NMSU tomorrow against Texas so I'm pretty sure our Defense will put on a better display then this week...

TX will hammer NMSU. We get nine (9) days to prepare for this game. NMSU players will write off the MN game before it even starts and will look forward to a much more manageable opponent in TX-El Paso the following Saturday. The only negative to this matchup is that this is an away game and our 3rd and 4th stringers won't get an opportunity to play which most likely would have happened about midway through the second quarter.

We're quite rightly a little upset about the TV situation with next week's game at NMSU. This week there fans can't get it on the radio.

Today
NMSU at Texas, 6 p.m., No radio in Albuquerque (technical difficulties); can be heard on web at NMstatesports.com

Here's there gameday story on today's game against Texas.

First-year Aggies head coach Doug Martin did not sugarcoat the disparity between the teams this week. Nor did he downplay the monumental challenge New Mexico State will face at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

“We’re still in the infant stages of turning this program around,” Martin said, “and we’re facing one of the best football teams in the country.”..

The one thing making Longhorn nation just slightly uncomfortable is that so little is known about NMSU. Martin, who served as offensive coordinator at New Mexico State and Boston College, respectively, the past two seasons, plans to employ entirely new schemes on both sides of the ball.

“It’s a unique opener, more than most, because we don’t know anything about their offense,” Brown said of the Aggies in a media conference this week. “We don’t know anything about their defense. We’ve heard a few things, but we don’t have a clue about what they’re going to do.”

Martin understandably is keeping his cards hidden, but he did provide a few clues about what fans can expect.

“We want to maintain a fast tempo,” Martin said. “We want to be balanced and be able to run the ball when we have to, but we are a spread offense and we’re going to throw the ball. We’re a no-huddle offense, too. That’s just the way of the world in college football now.”

Martin will give keys to senior quarterback Andrew McDonald, a junior college transfer who played in just one game last season. Martin believes McDonald is a good fit for his fast-paced scheme.

“Andrew’s dad was a great college quarterback,” Martin said, referring to former USC All-American Paul McDonald. “Andrew understands the game, he runs the ball well, he’s really stable out there.”

Other than senior running back Germi Morrison, McDonald will be working with a largely untested group of skill players. NMSU does have some experience on the offensive line, however, and the linemen appreciate what McDonald brings to the table.

I'm pretty sure we're on their list of "winnable games" seeing as how they beat us 2 years ago. I understand we're not the same team but that should give them some confidence that we're not just going to bully them around...

I guess some Gopher fans have short memories or were not at that game to witness the debacle. I am not chalking this up as a win just yet.

Ya, the outcome of a game two years ago when we were literally carp sucking the bottom of the lake really affects this year's game.
