Everybody needs to quit dreaming about the NCAA and get real....this team doesn't have the metal to be in the big dance and perhaps a NIT run into the Final 4 would be the best thing for them.

I realistically hope we can win 2 or 3 more games and get at least 1 or 2 home games in the NIT...

That's about as wild as my imagination will let me dream at this point...More on this site should follow suit.

Its over!

That's why you never made it to the promised land. Quitter.

We would have to win the Big Ten tournament to make the NCAAs. I am pretty sure everyone knows that by this point.

CBI might be more likely

Nothing is over until we decide it is. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

John Belushi reference aside, truth be told, it's probably more likely we'll be headed for the College Basketball Invitational. Either way, despite the disappointing season, I'd rather have the returning players get more game experience in March as opposed to the alternative, none at all. I'd actually be curious to see what it's like to play in the CBI. Call me sick, I know.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. If we ran the table for the regular season (however unlikely) we would go to 11-7 in conference and 20 wins, including good wins against Wisconsin and Purdue. While both scenarios are very unlikely I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best.

This year started with such high expectations but the way it is turning out has everyone very frustrated. The fans are frustrated and I'm sure the coaches and players are as well.

I don't think at this point anyone is too excited about the NIT or CBI and I'm afraid if there was a game at the Barn the attendance would be very very low.

Count me in! The upside is I can get better seats!

Not that I am complaining about Section201. It has an excellent view of the band and student section and is at a very safe distance to boot.

:)

Everyone's entitled to thier opinion. I think you keep your sites on the highest goal you can still achieve. Until we lose 3 more games, that's the NCAA's. Telling others they have to be pessimistic like you is beyond arrogant.

A loss tonight basically guarantees no NCAA tournament for the gophers unless the win the big10 tournament. Tubby is 1-7 against ranked opponents in his last 8 attempts.

Hmmm, watching this game is giving me a little bit of hope. Say we win 4 of the last 5 games (assuming we can finish this one first) and get at least one in the big ten tournament; we could possibly sneak in to the tournament. We would be on a roll, and who knows, maybe we are watching the start of a team more in sync.

I was literally laughing out loud when I read this. It has to be one of the funniest comebacks I've ever seen.

Let there be no doubt that Moses87 is a true prophet of God.

Mere hours after his prophecy we beat Wisconsin. Then it was on to Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, Michigan State and Purdue.

The 1 point loss at home to Purdue was merely the Lord's way of testing his people's faith.

We have reached the promised land. Well, most of us.

Kudos to xtreme

Kudos to extreme for reviving this thread.

I happily no longer have to wonder if I can get my usual Section 201 ducats for the NIT game(s).

:)

The original post is *so* Moses87.

Can you guys imagine partying it up with Moses87, Art Vandelay, Gophermanic, M2S/M-L, etc.?!

That would be quite a group together with LittleGopherFan, the educated and realistic one. They would would be a group together in the lower part of a bi-level partyroom...referred to as the "depressed section".

I'm looking forward to seeing the Gophers in Madison Square Garden for the NIT championship, and then heading over to the football team's spring practice to watch tight end Adam Weber and the boys....
