Nick Saban's wife house-hunting in Austin, TX

What a strange story that whole thing has been. I just can't see Saban leaving a great gig in Alabama for another college job but I guess it wouldn't be the first time a coach has made a move that made no sense to anyone on the outside looking in. I could see him wanting to try his hand in the NFL again but seems crazy to think he would go to another college.

Of course she's "househunting." And after the season it will be announced that Nick Saban has received a $3M annual salary increase to stay at Bama.

Probably thinking of: 3 National Titles for 3 Different Schools, contract leverage, new challenge, change of scenery, more $$$$$, new opportunities, his "Process", potential for NCAA penalties?, etc.

Point being there is a number of reasons why he could be exploring it IMO.

Austin >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>. Tuscaloosa

Exactly.

But why move to another school where he knows he's going to win another national championship in 3 years and can easily build another dynasty? Moving back to the NFL seems like the most logical move if he's looking for a challenge. Austin is a much better city than Tuscaloosa, but winning there won't be difficult.

Maybe we are thinking of the wrong job opening. Their AD is retiring at the end of the year.

Or, you know, the guy is buying another home. I'm sure he can afford it.

There were rumors a couple of years ago that Saban's wife hates Alabama, If true he could make the move partly to please his wife and partly the challenge of being the only coach to win National Championships at three schools.

He said he was under "unique" pressure - maybe the real story is Saban ditching Bama before the NCAA finally starts enforcing some rules?

Do you think Saban is ONLY considering Texas because its a foregone conclusion the Minnesota job just won't be open for him this year?

Just had an ESPN alert on my phone saying that in regards to the Texas coaching situation Saban said: "I'm totally committed to the University of Alabama" which in Nick Saban speak means he has already agreed to a contract with Texas and will be coaching the Longhorns next season.

I'm not saying it's not possible that Saban will go to Texas (he very well might), but this seems to me to be nothing more than a ploy for leverage to extract something like a 5-year, $40 MM extension from Alabama after they win their 3rd straight in a couple months.

We heard Donna Smith hated it here too. I'm sure she's loving Lubbock.

"Look, I’m all about loyalty. In fact, I feel like part of what I’m being paid for here is my loyalty. But if there were somewhere else that valued loyalty more highly… I’m going wherever they value loyalty the most.”

The State of Texas would go crazy. Alabama stole The Bear from T A&M. This would be like sweet revenge. For everyone except A&M fans, of course. The Alumni Assoc could make two or three phone calls and in 24 hours offer him a radio show following each game paying $10 million/year.

He wouldn't even gave to get his chili hot!

Aside from UT fans getting excited, this makes no sense. There is no revenge factor whatsoever if UT gets Saban.

LOL. The comments say that's a picture of Matthew McConaughey's house.

This is such B.S. The facts are that the Texas job is not open but the NDSU job IS.

Do the math.

Yeah, but I think Bohl's shoes are too big to fill. If Saban doesn't like the heat in Tuscaloosa, do you think he wants that pressure cooker in Fargo?
