**Edit: I will fully admit I was duped by what was apparently a joke.***

This would be the most Nick Saban thing ever:

Edit: SI appears to have taken down the link, but here's a Finebaum tweet about it:

Perhaps, it's early to pile on Mack Brown, but a reliable source tells me Nick Saban will be visiting in Texas by as early as this Friday.
— Paul Finebaum (@finebaum) September 8, 2013

Austin is a nice town... the kind of town (and of course helmet school aura) that could compete with Alabama. In the end, living in Alabama has to be a downer.

I think there's some football game Saban's current team is playing this weekend in the state of Texas. Not sure if ESPN has talked about it at all....

This post has now been removed by SI.
It may have been erroneous.

It was a joke tweet, and SI was gullible enough to take it seriously.

I am willing to say that this info is coming from within the Alabama athletic department and has been confirmed by reports from a rival Texas school.

I know a guy that works in the Texas Athletic Department who said the same thing to me and I called it BS then and I call it BS now. Some things make sense because Saban never stays at a job long, but I can't even imagine what the price tag would be if it were true. $7 million per year maybe $10 million per year. That would be insane.

I don't believe it either, but the scary part is that Texas could and would pay it.
He has an absolute maching rolling at Alabama, while he could do it again at UT, why would he when he would lose more games for a couple of years, and at this point, it would do nothing but tarnish his reputation?

This would give Saban the opportunity to be the first coach to win a title at three different schools

Sure, Alabama plays at Texas A&M in Saturday. It's a lock that Saban will be in Texas as early as Friday. So will the rest of the Alabama football team.

No it is accurate. I have it on good authority from a reliable source Saban will be visiting Texas no later than this upcoming Saturday.

Yes, thank you for pointing out the joke that Ranger, and presumably Finebaum, just made.

I hope you're kidding, Rodent.

Perhaps I should have said "Allegedly reliable sources". Too many times allegedly reliable sources are wrong. Since I can't verify the allegedly reliable sources, I can only go by the track record of the reporter.

Saban's contract with Alabama is open ended, much the same as the SEC member schools. If you want to leave, there is no penalty. No buyout. Just leave. But to take that to make him a candidate at Texas is more than a stretch. He is the Two Time Defending College Football Champ. Heck he has a waterfall in his office. Why would he?

Any hypothetical deal that included Saban, or any other big name to t.u. would also have to include the forced retirement of Deloss Dodds. It's doubtful that most qualified head coaches would want to have this guy for their boss.
