The article says Monroe has interviewed for the BGSU head coach role after their head coach left last week to be the Philadelphia Eagles QB Coach.

This would be a bummer for the Gophers but totally understandable for Monroe.

Would suck to lose another DC this quickly but can't fault a guy for going after a head coaching gig.

I guess if there is a good time to replace a DC it would be now when he hasn't even had a chance to put in his whole defense yet.

That's true of almost any coach in any MAC job. But I agree he will be fast-tracked on signs of success compared to his peers, due to his name recognition and NFL connections.

Might pay more? Also, some coaches are burning out on college ball. If you are at Bowling Green you lose most of the good players you find/develop to places like Minnesota.

I’d say that’s typically the case, but you do get some that stick around like Candle currently at Toledo. One thing with George is it’s not like his Alma Mater is opening any time soon, and I wouldn’t think he’d be chasing money but who knows. I do think being a former big name player gives him a leg up on equally successful coaches that weren’t big name players, but I don’t think we’ve actually seen much to warrant the advantage.
