Zac Epping 321, Josh Campion 326. Marek Lenkiewicz 289. Jon Christenson 306.

Isaac Hayes and Ben Lauer both over 300 lb.s

I kind of wanted to see what Jonah Pirsig weighs, but they haven't posted any new weight for him.

Besides the linemen, I am kind of interested to see if the've put any meat on Martez Shabezz. He looked pretty small last year at Spring Practice.

I am glad they didn't post my weight gain this past year.

If we are going to be good (and I think we are) this is where it will have to happen. We have a lot of talent, depth and potential on the OL. Only thing missing is experience. If we can stay healthy (keep it to a 5-8 man rotation) and develop some cohesiveness, our OL should be good for years to come. RS every frosh OL unless they are unbelievably good. It all builds around that.

Hayes weighing 300 is amazing, he s not that tall, but he is really built thick. I would believe he could play FB. Would not mind seeing him use him on goal line plays as FB.

Weight gain alone doesn't mean anything. Similar gains were posted last offseason. Given the large number of injuries on the OL you have to wonder whether it was the right kind of weight gain and strength/technique training. If you're throwing around an extra 30-40 pounds over just a few months without proportionally strengthening all the right muscle groups you might end up with a lot more lower body injuries.

Somebody should warn Coach Kill. Maybe even hire some sort of professional to handle these sorts of things...

Duke Anyanwu

I noticed that Duke Anyanwu is now listed on the roster as a TE at 6'4" & 241 lbs.

What an obtuse reply. It's a wonder this staff hasn't won a national championship by now because everything they do is absolutely perfect beyond question. You better believe the S&C coaches were critically evaluating their program to try to address the injuries last year. Sure it could have been a freak string of injuries, but sometimes if there is a pattern, it's not all due to chance. I don't know which it was last year but you can't just shoot down any question about it.

I thought the response was dead on... Do you really think they are just adding weight to their guts?

Across the board you could see the added strength and explosiveness on the players from the offseason conditioning.

Iowa puts half the team in the hospital and they perform an "internal review" that [laughingly] turns up nothing. Do you think any internal monitoring of the injury issues last year would be announced with a press conference?

Obtuse? That's Reusse. No, wait, that obese.
Soon to be obscure...
He probably gained weight during the off season too, but I'm guessing he won't show up for spring practice no matter how big.

Sorry, EE, back to the thread... It will be fun to watch our MN boys grow into positions!

I read that when Kalil was an All American Left Tackle at USC, he weighed 290 lb.s and has since put 20 lb.s on as a Viking. There is definitely more to playing the line than just size. For those of you who played the line, what skills do you look for in a good linemen?
